It would be nice if JOTAs xml tool I used could just put double zeroes (00) on every shadow. That way it would be easier to see every shadow with the full extent of the numbers. (A single number digit fits fine anywhere but a two-digit number messes thing up).

How about you turn your cube nto just a net, with the central continent worth more as it can be attqacked by all others. Or put lines for attacking from one side to the other so its exactly the same map but 2D

Not a bad idea... Would be totally geometric then too...

Bit like this... but I would make all the colours flat...

Then you would have to draw on the lines.

Had a thought actually - I know this hasn't been done before but you could have the Large Map being the 2 Cubes 3D effect - and the Small map being the flat 2D shape? Is that allowed?

It would be fun if somebody made a Germany-Switzerland-Austria-Belgium-Netherlands-Liechtenstein-Luxemburg-Denmark map, and a Germany-Poland-France area map separately.

Maybe a Scandinavian map, maybe an Italian map, good ideas, or a Russian map to reenact the Bolshevik revolution.

Why not a map of each country in the world?
Then hold a tournament where the winnwr of each country gets that country as a starting location in a World 2.0 battle royale?

EDIT: I checked Anne McCaffrey's website, and she does allow for fan work so long as it's not commercial, so this could be done, right?

Yeah. It should be. I'd do it, but i can't find the right tools. And no, it's not because I'm too lazy to look in the tool topic. it's because I have no clue how to use them, or which ones to even get.

Las Vegas

Post by calimart »

I don't know if it's been mentioned before but the Las Vegas strip would be a great map.

Major Hotels would be bonus regions - within the hotel the "countries" would be the major attractions of that hotel. For instance, in the Wynne you would find "Tryst", "Ferrari Dealership", "Golf course", etc. At the MGM you would find "Studio 54", "Lion's Den", "Centrifuge", etc.

Hotels are connected by a monorail system in Vegas, which we could use for accessibility between distant hotels - so there is more connectivity.

would anyone want to make a Checkerboard map? heres the concept; you can only attack diagonally, unless theres a checker on that space, then u can attack in any of the 8 directions.

on a 64 space board, there could be anywhere from 12-16 checkers.

also, continents would be any vertical or horizontal row, ensuring the necessity of the spaces with checker pieces on them, because otherwise u cant get a straight row.

the rows would have to be individually appraised based on how accessable they are (ie: how many checker pieces border them)

Sorry to mention, but how about editing the map of the UK so that Hampshire has a sea border (not being in the midlands), move Oxfordshire down, south of Derby, and put Cheshire back up north?

Any good map (hard to play) is one where every country has lots of borders. Try 50 or so counties in England?

I second that, the uk map could be redone really well and mabye seaports could be added. At the moment its way too inacurate and i hate playing it as i make mistakes when i find counties are in the wrong place

instead of having row/column be a continent (that wouod be 16) there could be another way of assessing continent values.

for example, +2 each for first 2 rows/columns owned, then +3 each for the next 2 owned, etc etc

anyone like this idea?

I've been wanting to make a civil war map for quite a while. I will need help though, because I am super busy and not all that great with computers.

I can do the basic imaging and stuff if someone else does the XML and all that

I have a quick question. Is it possible when creating a map to make it so that "Territory A" can attack "Territory B" but "Territory B" can't attack "Territory A?"

I don't need a specific solution, just a yes or no. I'm still in the design phase.

This is possible. You just list Country B in Country A's boundary list but dont list Country A in B's list.

Awesome, thanks.

In case anyone is wondering (and I may have posted about this some time ago, I don't remember), I'm fooling around with designing a Blood Gulch map (you know, from Halo?). I figured it would make a really interesting map, because there are one way teleporters that can provide a real tactical edge, and the ridges on the canyon sides could be constructed so as to allow fast attacks up the sides.

Also, the boundary list - would that affect fortifications? As far as chained or adjacent fortifications go, is it possible to make it so that Territory A can fortify to Territory B but not the other way around?

It works the same way as attacks. If a can attack b but b can't attack a, a can fortify b but b can't fortify a. The Circus Maximus map is a good example of this.

How could you make a map out of Strong Badia?

This is Strong Badia:
Image
what would the territories be? Dirt, tire, fence, grass, cinder block, and stop sign? Not too much to work with here.

Now if you made a map of Strong Badia and the surrounding areas (I don't know if the whole place has a name. Homestar Runner land? -probably not.)
if you were to make a map of that, that would give you more to work with. (But you probably would have to ask permission from The Brothers Chaps to use any names and stuff.)
