          Beta - Quenching

---The Final Forge period has concluded for the Poison Rome Map. All objections have had their time. The Foundry and I hereby brand this map with the Foundry Brand. Let it be known that this map is now ready for BETA Play. After an extended period of time in BETA and once all quirks and issues have been resolved, the map will be put into Full Play (barring any Lack vetoes).

Conquer Club, enjoy!

Wow, only two maps left in the forge then! Lots of new ones up on the Beta list.

Congrats on the advancement cairns. This is not a map that I care to play, but I know its still a lot of work so it has to be nice to finish the project :)

Mmmmm. now you've beta-quenched it, but it doesn't even appear in the game lists.

I noticed that the legend says the gods can attack the emperors and dictator but based on the results from the xml reader tool it doesn't show a link to Julius Caesar. Their is no final XML listed in the first post so I used the last one I had a link for.

http://www.multiblah.com/cc_tester/

Using Jotas tool it appears that Caesar cannot be attacked from the gods too...

Code: Select all

The Gods (0) | 4 |
Ceres  [2] <3>    ==>   Emperor Augustus  <5> Emperor Tiberius  <5> Emperor Caligula  <5> Emperor Claudius  <5> Emperor Nero  <5>
Mars  [2] <3>    ==>   Emperor Augustus  <5> Emperor Tiberius  <5> Emperor Caligula  <5> Emperor Claudius  <5> Emperor Nero  <5>
Jove  [2] <3>    ==>   Emperor Augustus  <5> Emperor Tiberius  <5> Emperor Caligula  <5> Emperor Claudius  <5> Emperor Nero  <5>
Juno  [2] <3>    ==>   Emperor Augustus  <5> Emperor Tiberius  <5> Emperor Caligula  <5> Emperor Claudius  <5> Emperor Nero  <5>

All 88's and 888's look great and all colors look quite good.

I am looking forward to giving this map a try =)

Thanks for that pickup Dolomite13. That should be fixed now.

And there is an easier version of the checking tool now.

Still works the same way for input but output is far better. :)

Version 37.

This is a very interesting map. I look forward to trying it out and see how it plays out. If it is anything like Draknor I will like it. :) RELEASE!!

I'm thinking this will be a little more intense than Draknor.

Looks like we missed something while working out gameplay, just started a 1v1 and each player gets 15 starting terits... think we may need to discuss adding an additional neutral.

Well, you could either put it somewhere out of the way (Aurelia Cotta, maybe, or Livia Helen), or in a more high-traffic area (Antonia?)... worth discussing.

Oh, and would it be possible for you to add an image of the map with all starting neutral values to the first post? It would be handy to consult for fog games.

Yes as long as it does not contravene any ethics of gameplay, if you know what i mean.

I would like to see two neutrals placed on Caesars' wives, possibly 3 on each each. That area, i have discovcered is an easy target to gain access to several to bonuses more than easier than others. 'twould restore some early balance to small player number games. :)

I think any potential neutral would be fine as a 2, like many of the others. I'm sure this has wooly implications, but what if you made one of caesar's wives neutral, and coded the other two in as starting positions?

Mmmm. (2) i can cope with, but if they were to be coded as starting positions, then it would have to be position 1 and 2 ( tow ensure coverage for 2 player games), and then the question that results from that is: does that still mean there will be even (as far as possible) distribution of other starters on the remainder of the map - will no-one be disadvantaged because of that?

To be perfectly honest, I still feel like I haven't quite grasped all the implications of starting positions, so hopefully someone who has will wander by...

I'd call mr Oaktown or Ian in, they are starting position masters. ;)
