This is a great idea, but I think we might need to set it around TYPE of random map, possibly organized by map complexity.
So random simple maps (with standard, territory-based bonuses, no autodeploys, no bombarding and no one-way traffic)
Medium maps (with one or two twists - like feudal)
Complex maps (crazy maps with lots of difficult features that time to understand - like waterloo or bamboo jack)

We COULD do that, certainly. For me though, that would take away a lot of the "spice". "Will I get Doodle Earth or Waterloo?"
Possibly make those OPTIONS where more than one can be selected. If one or two are selected, then randomize only within that/those group(s). And if no option is selected, then randomize among all groups.

I like it but it would require CC to do such a organization first (IMO a good idea on its own).
+ what Woodruff said.

Re: Random Map / Random Map settings
I assume the first step, would be simply a random draw from the available maps. If it proves to be a popular feature---then probably additional steps towards selecting from a "pool" of maps could come down the road. But the first step is still a step.

There should actually be a box that must be clicked to randomize each option, and not anything left blank is random. Because people who hurriedly make games will wind up with all sorts of random stuff they did not intend.

Re: Random Map / Random Map settings
I came to the forum to post this very idea. Random game generator, with anything not specified being random. An 'exclude' function would be nice, also. It could be implemented in the current 'Start a Game' menu by placing a 'Random' radio button with every setting.

Kind of against the whole randomness, but could work i suppose.
