Well I left it open to all teams, with any amount of points. Surely you can beat 2 cooks over a 5 game series. ;) By round 2 or 3 all the lower teams will be gone, unless they are kicking some serious ass and at that point they deserve to be that far. :)

Hi Bruce, am enjoying the tournie and thanks for setting it up. =D>
My comment would be that after the first round it should really be random selection of teams for continuing. This is because after the first round, if seedings are maintained, the competition becomes inherently unfair, as the best teams get the easiest ride and the middle teams have to battle equal opponents, making it much tougher to progress. Surely you can see that this is not fair?

Cheers,

gore

Well as it sits right now, would you say you 25th seed who will be playing the 1 seed. That is not easy for you? it is easy for them? I hope you do not consider yourself an easy target. ;) Past round 1 not much is easy at all. Besides you are in it to win it right?? :D

Hmmm, I think this misses the point... if the top teams are continually fighting the lowest teams, then it doesnt really balance out until there are about 10 teams left - who will prob nearly all come from the top 20, - not because they have the best players, but also because they have had the easiest opportunity. It is not right for a lower team that. Say team 32 battles against and wins against team 10, their achievment is killed because they then have to fight an even higher ranked team! Seedings are ok for the first rounds cause they weed out the lesser teams. I really think second rounds should be random. I am not afraid of team 1, but then I play team 2 and team 3, unlikely to survive all those - the odds are stacked in favour of the best teams in this one. :-s

That's how it always works, Gore. The top teams are actually risking a lot of points with a set-up like this as well. Since each series is a best of 5 games, if your team is the most skilled in the tournament it is conceivable that you can win the whole thing as a 1st seed or a 25th seed. Either way you have to beat some damn good teams to make it all the way.

If you beat the number 1 seed:

1 vs 25 You then play... one of the seeds listed below. You would not play seed 2 or 3 until the finals.

12 vs 37 vs 13

The brackets are setup, so in theory if there are no upsets, then number 1 seed would play the lowest remaining seed possible. There have been upsets in round 1 such as 35 over 14, so that means someone will play the 35th seed instead of the 14th. If you look at round 2, you will see the possible match ups. If you want to know round 3 match ups then you have to pair the 2 lines together like I did.

BTW there will be 24 teams after round 1 is over and 12 after round 2. Surely with those smaller numbers all the teams will be good. :) Who would be easier to play?

Hey Bruce, good job you're doing.

HannibalSmith and I (team 17) won our matches 3-2. Was a tough match-up, much respect for the other team.
