London Tube? Is that the subway (or underground)? If it is, the map is already being made (or at least it was - i don't know the current progress - it was almost finished).

The map's made and very attractive, but copyright infringements prohibit it from being completed and posted as a permanent map.

How about.. The North american British colonies?..
I started work on one, but I don't know if i'm going anywhere with it.. I don't know if the fact that its another map of north america(well, east of the mississippi river) may make it unwelcome, so I sort of stopped..

I just saw the how to make a map post and ill check that out shortly

Im suggesting this because i cant do it
a map of Oceana, the polynesias and micronesias
if antartica could be included aswell that make it really something!

here are some maps
http://www.geocities.com/cq43ax101/Oceana.html
http://worldatlas.com/webimage/countrys/au.htm

if i were to have a country
if i wanted to take over the world
I would start here-(the islands are predicted to be underneath the ocean in 50 years)

as another suggestion-what about Antartica?

Map Idea??

Post by kiltedman15 »

I've been reading a series of novels by an author by the name of
Robert Jordan, 13 in total, that make a series called 'The Wheel of Time'. The series is similar to Tolkeins 'Lord of the Rings' in content, but covers about 20-odd shires/states/kingdoms....and to make life easier, the map is in the front of every volume.

maybe worth a look?

I had an interesting Idea last night...

Trivial Pursuit Risk... or "Riskial Pursuit"

Image

Basically it works like this... as you can see all of the squares are different colours and don't touch each other...

So the way you get Continent Bonus's is by holding the "cheese" square... if you hold the Cheese square then you get +1 for every other Square of that colour that you hold.

All Cheese Squares start as Neutral with perhaps 5 armies on them each.

An extra bonus of holding all of the Roll again squares of +10 is also available (This is nigh on impossible hence large bonus)

Perhaps an extra rule - if you hold all Cheese Squares and the Centre Square then you win the game outright!

Any takers?

This sounds interesting. But I know at least one idea is not able to be implemented: certain squares start off as neutral can't be implemented as of yet, and i dont think that the automatic win by holding certain territories can be implemented right now either, but maybe with the addition of 'mission' cards it may be possible.

An interesting idea of a map otherwise.

With WWI and WWII maps floating around, I had the idea of representing war at a closer level. The idea is to have a map of a town to try and take over. Buildings could be used as countries with blocks as continents. A town with a river and bridge(s) would work best. Adding things like sniper positions, mortar teams and machine gun nests could spice up gameplay.

They put copyrights on subway systems? How can they copyright the system and prevent people from catographing it?
ImageChildren, this is what happens to hockey players, druggies, and Hillary Clinton.

They don't. I believe there is, however, a copywright on the iconic London Underground Map. Its not the actual contents so much as the visual style and representation.

I would if I knew how to make maps and had the programs. It would be an interesting map. But, I want to see a Randland map from the Wheel of Time series.

EDIT: I checked Anne McCaffrey's website, and she does allow for fan work so long as it's not commercial, so this could be done, right?

Central America is covered in the Carribian Map which is almost finished - im not sure what the hold up is. I think the author of the map has not been around here for a while.

Rubiks Cube Map...

ImageImage

(You have to imagine that one of the Red faces is orange - and that the second image is upside down... imagine links between the two as if you were seeing both halfs of the same cube (Obviously a spinning map would be awesome but well beyond scope!))

Essentially you battle for each square on the Rubiks Cube as a Country and each face is a continent. Each square has 4 borders - each continent has 12 borders - each continent is worth the same bonus (i.e. 9ish)

This would bring Risk down to it's completely Base form - no luck only Skill...

What do you reckon?

It'd be a hard map. Unless you have an entire face, you can be attacked from anywhere.
You're being charged at by 500 heavy cavalrymen. You have only 100 crossbowmen and 200 pikemen. Can you win?

It's been attempted at least once before with no success.
