Face it Gabon, your guys are torturing people.
What if I were to say, "so what?"
Then I would say you must be a terrorist sympathizer who wants a totalitarian government that controls the populace through fear and completely disregards civic and even basic human rights.
What human rights? He's a terrorist, forfeited all his rights.

Sometimes you just gotta drag the truth out of this murdering scum. If waterboarding is the worse that happens to them they should count themselves lucky, and be happy they still have their fingernails attached to the ends of those homicidal little paws of theirs.
Yeah! f*ck those terrorists and f*ck that presumption of innocence, and the fucking civil rights.
We will just get it out him using a method which has had men "confess" to crimes they've never done, "confess" that their best friends are guilty of crimes they've never done and much much worse. That info dragged out from people who will say anything to live is totally legit.

hmmm no your puerile and limp-dicked revenge fantasies do not constitute a sane or reasoned approach to national security, real life is not an episode of 24 and you are human filth

This post perfectly demonstrates how little most people know about this topic. Exactly three people were water boarded, no more, no less. None of them were water boarded to produce a 'confession', but rather to stop imminent attacks in the planning phases. Lives were saved as a result.
The only three people (terrorists) to have been water boarded were:
You can read about each case individually. The conversation has been framed as though this were a widespread practice utilized to extract confessions. In reality it was limited to three known offenders who were subjected to harsh treatment because it was known that they had intimate knowledge of imminent attacks on US soil or of the Al Qaeda network.
I can't believe you guys who're quoting from Justice Dept. memos as if they're a credible source. They already openly admit lying about using torture for years, and now you're going to cite their memos as credible sources insofar as how and who they tortured.
A most common torture that is used by the CIA and Spec Ops in the military wasn't even mentioned, and i know those bastards use it all the time. That is the straight pin or bamboo splinter under the fingernail. This is inexpensive, very little hassle or set up, and it hurts like a motherfucker. Another that they most certainly use is the soda water poured into the nostrils - you feel like your head is exploding. Cute stuff.
Waterboarding is the most benign torture that i was taught in the military, and that's the reason they chose waterboarding to give to the public. Buncha lying bastards.

Ummmm these are not actually "revenge fantasies", even as we sit and post these insanely zealous muslim murderers are in fact in the hands of American operatives throughout the world being dealt with much more harshly than mere waterboarding, and we all know this to be true. These waterboarding incidents are only what has been uncovered. May all these blood soaked terrorist scum be sent to there reward with a hunk of raw pork shoved down their throats.
Also I was wondering if you noticed my response to your post in the "pirates" thread?
Torture is morally repugnant and illegal, but also frequently useless. It certainly extracts confessions, but the resulting intelligence is usually flawed, and often dangerously inaccurate. Instead of undermining insurgency, routine abuse of captives has precisely the opposite effect.
The key example is Ibn Shaykh al-Libi, a Libyan al-Qaeda trainer captured in Pakistan in 2002. He denied knowing of any links between Saddam Hussein and al-Qaeda, but, under torture, “remembered” that Iraq had trained Islamic terrorists in the use of weapons of mass destruction. His evidence formed the centrepiece of George W. Bush's pre-invasion speech: “We've learnt that Iraq has trained al-Qaeda members in bomb-making and poisons and gases.” Al-Libi's “confession” was entirely false, but by the time the CIA retracted the claim, the war was under way.

While there certainly are philosophical theories that argue for such a definition of rights in all areas (kill and lose your right to live, steal and lose your right to property, etc.), there are very few people who argue for them, and with good reason. The theories are riddled with holes and create far more problems than they claim to solve, both on a theoretical level as well as in any scenario of implementation.

C.I.A. interrogators used waterboarding, the near-drowning technique that top Obama administration officials have described as illegal torture, 266 times on two key prisoners from Al Qaeda, far more than had been previously reported.
The fact that waterboarding was repeated so many times may raise questions about its effectiveness, as well as about assertions by Bush administration officials that their methods were used under strict guidelines.
A footnote to another 2005 Justice Department memo released Thursday said waterboarding was used both more frequently and with a greater volume of water than the C.I.A. rules permitted.
WASHINGTON — The first use of waterboarding and other rough treatment against a prisoner from Al Qaeda was ordered by senior Central Intelligence Agency officials despite the belief of interrogators that the prisoner had already told them all he knew, according to former intelligence officials and a footnote in a newly released legal memorandum.
The escalation to especially brutal interrogation tactics against the prisoner, Abu Zubaydah, including confining him in boxes and slamming him against the wall, was ordered by officials at C.I.A. headquarters based on a highly inflated assessment of his importance, interviews and a review of newly released documents show.
Abu Zubaydah had provided much valuable information under less severe treatment, and the harsher handling produced no breakthroughs, according to one former intelligence official with direct knowledge of the case. Instead, watching his torment caused great distress to his captors, the official said.
Even for those who believed that brutal treatment could produce results, the official said, “seeing these depths of human misery and degradation has a traumatic effect.”
Read the whole article as it tells you exactly how good torture works.

I think I have written this in every thread on this subject on this site: Ask John McCain if torture works. If I will defer to anyone's opinion on torture nad its effectiveness, I will defer to his.
And I am not a liberal. I think these people should simply have been killed, no need to torture, feed, house, clothe them at all. War is war. Shoot em up, move em out, rawhide!

He is against it and says it doesn't produce reliable or good information. Even when he himself was tortured he gave info that didn't mean anything and just wrote his signature under a piece of paper under deaththreats.
I mean, even if you would take that case as saying that torture works, it shows there is no good information to gain and that that info will likely only come after brutal and very long torture. There is no added benefit to information getting that torture provides over other interrogation tactics, and the damage it does to your image in the eyes of others and your selfimage is basically reason enough to never do it.
Every officer who knows his stuff knows that torture is just plain ineffective.

I think you missed my point concerning McCain. He is not only against it, he is 100% against it and its effectiveness. I know it must seem foreign that I am taking the "liberal" side of this issue, but I take the side that makes the most sense.
I still think we should just shoot them though.

Not this kind.
Of course, I doubt they would appreciate that kind of music, so what the hell, we'll do both!

This idea that you're going to believe that interrogation methods were used based off of CIA reports but not believe the reports which detail the extent and results of the techniques is completely irrational.
Reality isn't a game of pick and choose.

I was thinking we can skip all the expensive airport security devices and just have Super Soakers filled with pigs blood at the entrance to the cockpit. Then when these islamic terrorist nut jobs get squirted and can't get their virgins they'll run to the bathroom to begin cleansing themselves with the blue toilet water.
