I predict Detroit winning over New Jersey in 6 games (real life). Anyone else care to make a prediction?

I'm pretty sure you will :( as New Jersey has suffered several crippling last minute losses this week. Of the games completed so far, New Jersey is 2-4 with 3 of those losses coming in the last minute of regulation (3 10 round losses :( ) with 3 tough road games on going at moment. Coach Ricrem noted this evening that his team needs to "manup down the stretch, and that this is really just a taste of the type of opposition they'll be sure to see come playoff time."

NJ closes with a flourish however in hopes of securing the 2 seed, picking up 5 of a possible 6 points by splitting 2 games at the Islanders (finally got a game to go to OT) and making a remarkable 4 goal comeback against Pittsburgh on the road (pitt had a +3 bonus on the drop and for the first 4 turns) but NJ was able to prevail in OT.

Almost there guys ,

Tampa #1 in the east . Colombus in the west (#1 overall)

Washington needs to win its last 2 games to steal Toronto's place in the playoffs

Islanders have their fate in their own hands

Look like Philadelphia will end the regular season with the most lost in OT...

The Devils and Rangers get their series started in style with a 4 game split. Both teams won their respective home games, 3 of them rather convincingly (ending in 6,7, and 8 rounds respectively) while the 4th game wasn't decided till the final minutes ( a 12 round Rangers victory). Devils coach Ricrem thought his team played well, but really would have preferred to pick up a victory at MSG. He noted that he hoped the fans would show up for game 5, and provide the same presence that they did in the first two games.

I'm a little confused as to why the playoffs started before all the games were finished. I understand that all the teams that were going to make the playoffs were decided, but you can't tell me that teams that were in couldn't move up. I won 3 games since the regular season "ended" and I think that might have moved me up (maybe not). I don't think it's THAT big a deal, but seeding does make a difference. I was just curious on what the standings looked like when the playoff picture was decided.

The games for the playoffs were given out after all results which could change the standings were done and dusted , Detroit were secure in 7th , you couln't catch anyone above you , nor could my Minnesota team threaten your 7th place

yeah, I'd like to see the regular season final standings as well. I won quite a few games for the regular season after the playoffs had already started. I'm curious as to how my final point tally looked.

AP
DALLAS, Texas -- The Dallas Stars beat the Edmonton Oilers in epic fashion Tuesday, winning game seven in triple overtime. Steve Ott gets credited for the goal after officials in Toronto determine that he deflected the puck past Oilers goalie Roloson with his skate and did not kick it in, as many think the replay shows. The initial shot cam from a Sergi Zubov slap shot from the point. In a press conference after the game Dallas coach Dave Tippet had this to say -- "I think we deserved this win tonight, everyone in Edmonton can suck it." The Oilers coach could not be reached for comment. Dallas will move on to play either Vancouver or Detroit in the second round.

Tampa won. Tough road games for my opponent-only reason I won

Vancouver wins a hotly contested game on away ice (first away win for either team in the series) to take game 6 and the series 4-2.

You must have really been getting checked hard as I see that you won game 7 unless I am confused to win the series 4-3

Good Luck in the Finals

Tampa (HighlanderAttack) take the cup winning 4-2.

Lucky enough to get all 6 drops of the puck, used the starting momentum to win it all.

Thanks for running the tourney and thanks to J-mad for a good series.
