Actually me neither. I would say that it's more the type of capitalism you have which is a predictable result of too little socialism to curb things. That is, the rampant advertising and consumerism has made people focused too much on getting money to buy more shit they don't need. There is a trend that says everything should be fast and quick and fast so that you have more time to enjoy yourself, but all that people do with that time is watching tv and learning about new things that they have to get because it will save them time.
Yeah, I could go on but my main point is that the creators of Tell-sell should be shot.

When I was 15 I "lived" in Greece for 3 and a half months. Essentially, I stayed with distant relatives on a small island in the Mediterranean. Long story short, their lives are excellent; they worked half as much as Americans, took afternoon naps, and had a party every night. It was extremely fun. The United States is not like that, obviously, but I remain fairly happy here and do not long to go to Greece and live there. Keep in mind, too, that Americans like to complain, even when things are going well. As another example, here in Philadelphia our baseball team won the championship last year (we only have 2 championships in 100+ years). In any event, after losing the first two games of our 162 game season, our players were roundly jeered and booed... a somewhat telling example of Americans liking to complain.

Well yeah my people like to complain too. (Though we would ofcourse complain that that is generalising.)
But still, even when you can live your life happily and be happy with what you got, some things are just worrying and make you despair for mankind. For example: Favourite thing to do in their spare time according to a recent survey? Shopping.
Seirously, shopping? BUYING SHIT?? SPENDING ALL THAT MONEY YOU WORKED HARD FOR ON SHIT YOU DON'T NEED?
Damn.

If it's any consolation, I'm an American and I hate shopping. I don't know who performed that survey, but, frankly, I don't know many men who like shopping in their spare time. Perhaps it is a phenomenon strictly related to American women. I bet if we did a poll on this site (for only citizens or residents of the US), we'd get no responses for "shopping"... largely because most of us are men.

Probably also because we're mostly geeks. I know plenty of guys who like to buy shit.

I was going to say that as well, but I my brother-in-law, who is a geek, also likes to shop (for comic books). He's pretty much the only male I know that enjoys shopping.
