By the way, when you revamp this map, make sure you change the numbers so that there aren't two "6's" bordering the same '5' for example.

That's true, I've lost good men trying to get to Lake Minstello 6 and instead attacked Barbarians 6 accidently.

My outlook is a little different about this board

Best starting position: Has to be Feudal Empire

If you're playing 1 v 1 (and if i remember you get 2 castles) and one of them is feudal, i would not attack with my other castle. Id just attack from feudal and go towards rhu village area. Leaving the other castle to build up, and this is really good with fog on, will definitely surprise your opponent once he finally gets to your castle.

As far as Realm of might strategy...Id attack rom 2,3,4 & 6 1st...then let my armies build up on the castle...usually this game is played with fog on so if you see anybody start attacking that 10 on the right side you have a str8 shot from castle - rom 5 - rom 7. Its pretty easy to gain imperial or the great kingdom if they rush in like that.

Most like to attack to get that +1 bonus, but is it worth it if youre dwindling you army to one everytime to do so. I like building up the armies on my castle and just wait for that moment where my armies can run thru the opponents 1s...

Of course im not 13-1 im more like 3-3 lol

It seems many if not most of the Feudal War games are played with fog of war. If you're playing with fow, you want to watch the game log, and see how much fighting is going on.

In 6-player, as people are eliminated, you want to keep track of how many castles the strongest players have; same thing with towns, but to a lesser extent.

Basically, you want to watch the other armies as best you can in the log.

In Escalating, the castles become less important over time.

In No Spoils games, the castles are important; the same with difficult-to-replace standing armies.

In No Spoils in particular, try to get the other player to break down the neutral 10s.

If one player has 2 or more castles, you have to move out at some point.

In Escalating, you need to time your eliminations.

In Escalating, the end-game is most often about cards. In No Spoils, it's about castles and standing armies.

With Chained, and even moreso Adjacent reinforcements; it's very much about positioning as well.

You can move out early and conquer a neighboring player, but can you hold on to your gains and expand from there, or will yet another player arrive on the scene and mop up?

Do you wait in your castle for the neighbors to come, hopefully weakening themselves by knocking down the 10-walls?

It's about timing, positioning, reading the log.

If hunkered down in a castle and with No Spoils; and the log indicates that someone has 3 or 4 castles, it's probably time to consider moving out.

If people start getting eliminated in Escalating, and the sets are worth 30 or 40 armies, it's probably time to move out if you've been hunkered down to that point.

There was this one No Spoils game where everyone was battling, except for one dude. I went over the log, and realized that he had over 100 armies, and most of the rest of us were near spent! Somehow I manged to win that one.

Got a 20:47 auto-battle where I won and advanced 3.

I was just hoping to cut him down a bit before reinforcing another stack up. I looked and it had me advancing 3! The results of that roll in losses was 15:47!

Another time on this map, there was a 107-104 where I advanced 43. My 44 then turned and took on a 45 of a 3rd player and advanced 8!

It was over a bridge position. They were on both sides of the river facing each other at 104:45 and I took them both out with 107 and 8 to spare.

Salute to the big auto-battle on Feudal!

This map is great. Can't spend all my time playing small, 'drop' boards like Luxembourg, Doodle Earth, and British Isles; need a little bit of that, large-board 'conquest' feudal action baby.

(I do agree with the one dude who mentioned that the numbering of the territories could use some work.)

I totally disagree with the strategies...i had a brilliant strategy till the dice made me lose on average 5 to 1, then average 8 to 1 on successive turns against my opponent....(happened twice, against 2 Majors....now wondering if they get special treatment)...no strategy can beat that....

Coleman wouldn't it be better to go after other castles rather than villages first, if it's easier?

Plutoman wrote:I hate to be critical, but I disagree with much of the play, and I do not think diplomacy really has any place in a feudal game. I also disagree with some of how the human mind thinks, such as with the 10 against 11 or 12, but I do agree with the 2's all around. It does look a bit more intimidating.

I also have to definitely agree with the territory and log watching, as that is extremely important.

My strategy is quite different, and will win against this one most of the time, but I am not quite willing to share it, as if used against me, my odds of winning do go down quite a bit :P

However, this will improve your game in general on this map. Hopefully it'll spark some more opponents for my feudal games.

Good guide overall, and 10 for the effort. Since I'm not willing to share my own, I can't really complain that this one is bad, especially since it is much better than any average strategy.

ur strategy u use can easily be seen in ur previous games if u look at the game log  so its not a big secret, and after looking at ur strategy it seemed kinda average at best thus ur 37%win rate on feudal even though uv played more 1vs1's than multi player games, sigh
