Conquerclub Kiva.org group

Post by imcjb »

Hey guys,

Some of us over the past few years have joined groups like Folding@home (using spare computer cycles to contribute to medical advances) and similar schemes. Kiva.org is a great idea that helps the developing countries without losing funds because of charity bloat and overheads.

I was wondering if any of you would want to join a CC group that contributed say 5 or 10 dollars each and then lent it on Kiva.org. Any interest? Check it out and let me know!

I hadn't heard of this project before, but after a quick look on Wikipedia and their home page it seems like a good idea.
If you can get a group of people together I'd be interested in helping out.

OK, Im thinking perhaps of a group with 10 people all contributing $5USD or a group of 5 contributing $10USD. Any other ideas are welcome....those tanzanians need chickens!

Well depends how many people are interested - but I've signed up anyway just now and I see you can create a "team" on their website, so I think it should be easy to do.

Have you "invested" on it before? Looks quite well designed.

No, I have not invested in it before, but I have had montly contributions to Red Cross and World Vision. I've been dissuaded by their large overheads and propagation of a charity industry so I thought I might give Kiva a try. The repayment rate is over 97% according to their site.

Im going to try to get some more CC'ers involved and then we can create a team.
