I was debating on whether to weigh in, now I think I will contribute.
I am in the United States studying from India. Everything is different here as can be expected. The most striking difference I noticed is the COMPLETE PROLIFERATION OF OBESE PEOPLE HERE!!!!!
You Americans are a sad, sad country of individuals and I used the word "individuals" purposely. No one cares for the community, just to stick more fried foods into their fat mouths!
I can not wait to go back to India and remove the stench of you Americans from my nostrils.

instead of sending our so called allies checks in the millions of millions of dollars we should just keep our money and worry about ourselves. Amazing we are everyones whipping boy in peace time. but as soon as war brakes out we are the first ones called to come save them.
instead of teaching our technology (I.E the car, drilling for oil, the airplane, the internet, electricity, etc, etc, etc) to the world we should have kept it to ourselves. Then where would you be? Riding your donkey to the islands once a years gathering watching hand puppets by the moon light or lantern because there is no electricity. Drinking from a coconut shell because there is no plastic.
For all our falts there are just as many good things. I agree that we as a country have became lazy and enjoy fast food way to much. Every country has there good and bad points. This last month of flames have gotten to be rediculous. If you have nothing better to do with your time then flame other countries your no better then what your flaming. [/b]

My friend, I am an American. For a man of obvious intelligence (you said you were studying here) your view is shortsighted, flawed and cruel. I myself am not fat, no one in my entire family could be considered obese. It is a rare occurance in my life that I ever come in contact with a glutton.
It is my guess that you have never left New York or Los Angeles or what ever place you have decided to study. You cannot judge a whole nation of people by your limited experience. By the way, why did you come here (besides to insult us from inside our borders)? You came to study in the greatest country from which to gain a college education. We are not just a country of brain-dead slobs.
Now if I were to travel to India...(I cant think of a reason why I would want to) ...but if I were to travel to your home country, would I come home and write posts about how crowded it was and how unbearable the stench was? NO!!! I don't make wild comments that have no purpose but to be hurtful. You on the otherhand derive enjoyment from calling us "sinful" Amercans obese beacause you only wish you had been born here, instead of India.
As for Americans caring not for their community, I belong to two community service groups where I am reminded daily of American concern for one another. I wish to know what you do for your community, for India. Do you care for your community as much as I do for America? Or do you insult hoping no one will reply? I finally realize why India is so easy to conquer on the World map.
Lord Canti: Your rebuttal to my post was well thought out, superbly structured and tackled every point in my post. Unfortunately this does not atone for you being a complete nincompoop. Sir I say this because of all the people who had derrogatory remarks towards America and Americans, why did you decide my post was most worthy to argue against? As they say in my country: A person who misses a chance and the monkey who misses its branch can't be saved. You sir have missed a chance to tackle this issue on the side of righteousness. I do not harbor a hatred towards all Americans, those you call "Native Americans" deserve my respect mainly because they are called Indians and have suffered greatly under your foul, odoriferous hand.
I see that you are employed at K-Mart and thank you for keeping the 13 eldest of my siblings employed making various apparel of XXXL sizes so that I may have a chance to come here and take advantage of your American education system. I hope to one day be a tech support phone specialist at a major US telecommunications corporation.
In closing I would invite you to one day visit my country and see for yourself how inferior the American way of life is.

But without millitary and financial aid from you, where would Colombian and Mexican Goverment (I'm sticking with the countries close to you, there are others) get the recources for sloughtering peasants and union leaders, thus keeping work force cheap.

So... there are no Fat people in India?? I beg to differ!!! Go google OBESITY in India...
Professor Kapil said that school surveys in Indian cities show that 30% of adolescents from India's higher economic groups are overweight.
Mumbai: India is facing an obesity crisis among its newly wealthy middle class as millions of its rural poor still struggle for enough to eat.
Seventy-six per cent of women in the capital, New Delhi, are suffering from abdominal obesity, according to a survey by the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences. 'It is a serious problem for India,' The problem underlines the vast divide between India's thriving urban areas and the impoverished rural regions, where millions are struggling to feed themselves.
'Politicians still ask "How can people here have obesity when they are dying of malnutrition?" They think malaria and TB are much more serious,' Misra said.
The new study is important because as obesity rises, India is beginning to feel the burden of associated chronic diseases, the researchers said. Among these are heart disease, hypertension and adult-onset diabetes. The World Health Organization estimates the latter will triple there from 19.4 million cases in 1995 to 57.2 million in 2025.
All Things Considered, September 13, 2006 · In India, which has more undernourished people than any other country in the world, a new problem is emerging: A study conducted by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, India, reveals that in cities - especially in north India - over 50 per cent women and 40 per cent men aged 35+ are overweight.
*And further more about INDIA
Even more than 50 years after independence from almost two centuries of British rule, large scale poverty remains the most shameful blot on the face of India.
More than 40 per cent of the population is illiterate, with women, tribal and scheduled castes particularly affected.
The main causes of poverty are illiteracy, a population growth rate by far exceeding the economic growth rate for the better part of the past 50 years, protectionist policies pursued since 1947 to 1991 which prevented large amounts of foreign investment in the country.
Eradication of poverty can only be a very long-term goal in India.
Go the f*ck home soon!! your ignorance is polluting America!!! You should feel lucky that we allowed you to even be here....What are you gonna do when India is filled with Fat Asses like The U.S.A. cause it is going to be...You live in a Poverty filled, filthy, fat assed country full of thieves. Obesity is a serious Disease and makes people very sick and hard to live. its a disease as serious as Cancer or Aids. HOW could you be so mean. And what do you believe about Karma? Could it be that what you said here is going to bite you in your big obese ass someday.

I responded to yours because you didn't use profanity in your insult (like everyone else) and I respect that. Also, youre claims are the most unfounded. Are Americans responsible for what thier ancestors did to the Native Americans? No, one, beacause the vast majority have ancestors that immagrated to this country after the our disgraceful theft of Native American land and ,two, the fact that someone's great great grandfather slaughtered an Indian in order to take his property, does not in turn make that person a thief and as murderer.
Where in America do you study that you gain such a negative perception of the whole country? You can not judge the behavior of billions of Americans by your interaction with a few thousand.
I am glad that your aspiration is to be a tech specialist for a US telecommunication corporation. If you have the choice on where to live in America come to the great state of Illinois. And, my friend, K-mart does not sell XXXL sizes...at least not the branch of the store I work at.
My best wishes to you and your family

To all the naysayers out there, hear me now and believe me later when I tell you that the information presented by Ms. Beastly is incorrect and insulting. Where I have used personal experience in presenting my argument, she has quoted "Google" with NO guarantee of the accuracy of the information. Any among you who have ever been to my country I implore you to tell me otherwise. If I am found to be lying may I be "caught in the act" with a cow and blame the mistake on poor eyesight.
What this survey fails to inform it's audience is that any woman with a greater than 61 centimeter circumference waist is considered obese in my country.
Again, quoted for emphasis. I say again that where my insulting comments are based on firsthand experience, yours are pure conjecture based on stereotypes. I have noticed that you do not deny the U.S.A. has "Fat Asses."
Just a few things here: There can not be billions of Americans, I will assume it is an exxageration much like my XXXL size statement so I can let this one go just this once. To answer your question I am studying at West Virginia University and I am also puzzled at the lack of teeth of the people in this country. How can one get so large by overeating and not have any teeth? I find it a great paradox and may possibly use this topic for my B.A. Thesis.
In closing I would like to point out that karma has been very good to me because I have been very good to the people's of this world. Besides India and the United States, I have visited Vietnam, Austrailia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea and even the United Arab Emirates... The average citizen of the United States are by far the most obese and rude people of the countries I have visited.
I apologize to D.IsleRealBrown for hijacking this thread. It angered me to see others not respecting your very correct beliefs. I shall endeavor to control my anger in the future and in this I apologize to everyone that is not American.

i guess you don't read closely.
im thinking your basing your opinions of america based on limited exposure.
I live in the north-east...its one of the hardest working sections of the country
i dont know anyone who works less than 60 or 70 hours per week...and ive worked over a hundred hours a week running my business...
I am lucky enough to have worked with some incredibly successful people who are a pleasure to work for. They are considerate, passionate people who care about their professions and their families
no other country in the world allows so many people from other countries to come here....our taxes support many of them, and im not saying everyone accepts it with open arms...but let me know what other country will allow as many imigrants into its borders...pays their health care costs...provides other services on such grand scale....send a few million south americans to any other country in the world...lets see how they react
all we want is to go to our jobs...come home, eat dinner, watch a little tv with our families, maybe make a few risk moves, and go to bed...watch a little football on the weekends....
thats america....the fact that we allow people to do what they want based on the premise of freedom, does not make us worse it makes us better
feel free to judge individuals based on their lifestyles...thats your call...
if you had the opportunity to meet the americans i have known, you would never be able to say anything bad about them
as far as our foreign policy...i have as much power over that as i do the rotation of the moon....but our pres has a very low approval rating. We gave him 8 years and we will send him on his way. We will try to find someone better...if they do a good enough job we'll keep him or her for another 4 years...if not we will send them on their way
all i know is im not about to judge an entire country based on the ridiculous samples you guys are using
