I hardly ever attack 5v3, unless it's part of a larger attack. Odd numbers just tie up an extra army needlessly, when you lose a double.

I find 10 v 3 works much better.

You should do it only when it's a do-or-die situation... or something almost as urgent. (Just my humble 2 cents.)
Or of course, once the game is decided beyond doubt.

Re: 5 vs 3 ( attacking dices )
I have never in my life attacked a five on three unless it is my last trn in a game I have lost. The most daring I will ever get out on the battlefield is 6 on three, but to be safe, 9 or 10 on three is best bet, I know this sounds like it is coming from an underranked player but it is coming from a underestimated player who was leaked of their points recently in bad luck scenarios. My average rank is around corporal first class, and dont laugh, at least its better than cadet.

i never go 5v3 unless it is an absolute necessity to break a bonus, etc... and by the way, "dices" is not a word, the singular is die and the plural is dice. Conquer Club, it isn't only a game, it is a learning experience...-0

5 against 3 is a good bet, you should win it 64% of the time. You'll only win 47% of the time attacking 4v3. Don't let your previous experiences stop you from making the best possible moves, that's a good way to play superstitiously, and poorly.
Of course, if you're deploying 2 armies, you're better putting them in two places that can attack the one you want, instead of 1. Two 4v3s is better than 5v3. In a two player/team game, that 5th army is probably a waste.

With a 5 on 3 you have to ask yourself, "Do you feel lucky?" as you roll 3 dice against 2.
A double win and it's now 5 vs 1 and your odds grew exponentially better and if you
lose 2... you're now even with the opposition at 3. So it isn't a huge risk.
If you split it's still a 3 dice roll against 2 and maybe you can take 'em. Once again...
do you feel lucky? It really depends on the game (or the mood I'm in) to push my luck.

that's what i'm saying even with these statistic, i win a lot more ( 95% ) with a 4 vs 3 than 5vs3 .... like i said maybe it's just bad luck, but still i feel better with a 4 than a 5.
i think i've won 3-4 5vs3 since last year ...
