i have decided to get rid of the airplanes
There airplanes are a good idea! What are you going to replace them with?
1. The big, ugly, thick black line to the west of the map. Is there any real need for it? I think you can agree it isn't! I would say remove it and give that bit the same borders as everywhere else.
2. The boats. At the moment the boats don't seem to quite fit with the look of the rest of your map. There are untidy and blurry. I would advise new boats are in order.
Nice looking map you guys have going here. Keep it up!
Maybe you should take out some of those boats up north, and put islands in?
Also, are you sure Cedarhurst is the best name for that place? I think maybe you should change it to Rockville Centre. Or maybe you should change it to Hempstead, and make the current Hempstead like Roslyn or Manhasset or something...

the islands are a good idea, maybe just have islands, and A few ports on Connecticus or wherever in the long island sound area and then boats in the atlantic area
I like the look of the map as well. But is there really a need for the boats or even a highway? Is there anything wrong with having maybe a "ferry route" on each side of the island? With no boats you have a pretty good "mini map". The boats really clutter up the map and seem too large for the map.

duly noted, i will try to come up with a newer version without the boats
ok, i tried it without the boats, and i made everthing look a little crisper v5 changes: 1. got rid of boats 2. new attack routes 3. changed look of unplayable area 4. got rid of army circles 5. redid borders with 1px brush 6. added numbers 9. minor graphic tweaks
I like it better with no boats. Are the ferry routs actual ferry routs or just random ones you made up? The dark lines by the word "Atlantic" look out of place. What are they supposed to be? Or is it a graphic error? No army circles looks sharp. Is there a bridge or ferry that connect Long Beach and Jones Beach in real life?

A quick look on answers.com shows that Long Beach and Jones Beach do connect via a bridge. You should have them connect in the map. Also it says that Jones Beach and Fire Island are not joined, but are separated.

yes he's right, but the one b/w Fire Island ‹—› Bay Shore is real.

As stated I think it looks better and the gameplay will be better without the boats. Do a bit of research to see what islands actually connect (Like Long Beach and Jones Beach) and what actual ferry routes are. As for the empty space...you could put the coat of arms from flag in there http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Flag_of_New_York.svg
ok, so here is the small version with the large, i added a light house to try and take up some of the empty space v6 large v6 small changes:
1. added light house 2. no connection: fire island <-> jones beach 3. added bridge between long beach and jones beach 4. switched islip and bay shore 5. made small map 6. added numbers to small 9. minor graphic tweaks
The lighthouse is a good idea...and maybe a good idea for different attack routs. There is a lighthouse in the following communities in Long Island Long Island Sound Side - Hempstead - Huntington - Southhold Atlantic Ocean Side - Islip - SE Brookhaven - East Hampton
You could put lighthouses on these terts and all the light houses on each side can attack each other. This would negate the need for made up ferry routes. Just a thought...
LED ZEPPELINER wrote:this could be cool, but instead of dividing it by ocean, maybe i could just say all light houses can attack each other
You could...but I would tend to lean towards just one side of the island being able to attack the other. Opening it up too much would make it very hard to defend the lighthouse terts. But it is your map...just my thoughts
