I know we worked out the territory mapping (ie old to new), and while I have every faith that WM has got it right, that's what I'm going to double-check later tonight... ;-)

I will not be changing the XML to make the 888 look good. If I change the position to make the 888 look good, the 88 will look bad. The only reason I am showing the 888 is that Andy asked to see them to make sure the numbers did not cover any territory names. I will post the 88 image to show what that looks like if it is felt needed.

Basically:
    88- needs to look good
888-only need to ensure no letter coverage (not required to look good)

How about an example?
Old XML wrote:<name>a</name>
<name>b</name>
<name>c</name>

a is now 2
b is now 1
c is now 3.
New XML wrote:<name>2</name>
<name>1</name>
<name>3</name>

Well all I did was take the old XML and did a find/Replace for every territory. I think that will give the same index.

Well, that looks nice. Using LotR names, are we? That's cool. I like it, though the map should be bigger, I think. :)

It should do - we're just trying to avoid a repeat of the temporary British Isles revamp glitch ;-)

I've been following the development of this map closely ever since I found out about the contest to re-imagine it. The original Middle Earth layout was my favorite map on the site at the time, and with the graphics revamp I actually like this new version even better. I'm anxious to see this hit the site again as a playable map.

Army coordinates look good to me - two-digit counts are nicely placed and and three-digit counts only minimally bump borders and other elements. I assume that since you guys just used the old XMl and replaced the names that all is well, but could you ask Forza to take a quick peek anyhow? The stamp does have his name on it, after all. ;)

Forza AZ wrote:XML is OK. Just 1 tiny name thing:
Doomfire Mountains on map is called Fire Mountains in XML

So I fixed it.

Having said that, a simple "Find and Replace" should work without any bother. ;-)

Double/Triple-checked, and XML is good to go...

yeah...i was off a LONG time, so put me up to date: is there a reason middle earth was replaced in the first place? copyright or something? i noticed cuz all my me games were changed by...what is it? centerscape?

look, i like how the map looks, but i cant help wondering why the name changing...just a thought. i kinda liked the fact to be able to play in a lotr related map...

The name is changing because no one likes Centerscape and Midgard is more LOTR related than centerscape is now.

not surprised no one likes it. it's just a bunch of shapes. 8-)

what i mean is why take out middle earth? copyright reasons? lotr haters around? it could have been revamped....i actually like how the map looks right now (as midgard) but why change all the names?
and as for namechanging, what i meant was why change the real lotr names for letters-numbers (example: mordor became M-1,2,etc. why?) mordor now is doomfire mts (????) rohan became central forest...well..why not keep the original names?
