Steely Dan

Post by Megadeth666 »

Ok ..Might just be a thread for the older fockers here...but WHO KNOWS STEELY DAN =D>

Image
Walter Becker and Donald Fagen

I got almost all their albums ,and lots in cd's,and a few dvd's , but as I was listening again to Kid Charlemagne, it really made me wonder..cause if you know Steely Dan ..they write most of their music based on truth ..so I looked further into this song..

Now here a link to the song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5EQaEHNeco ...and
Now here is the "Rest of the Story" ( :( in memory of Paul Harvey), to that song http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kid_Charlemagne

Any thoughts , or other favorite Steely Dan's tunes would be appreciated :)

Great band.
Never saw them live; but I did see Skunk Baxter live in a little dive bar in Syracuse in the early '90's......Awesome

Steely Dan is a good band. I love the intro to Ricki(SP?) Don't Lose that Number.

I've always liked their music... saw them in concert for the first time long ago
in a show with The Grassroots as the headliners. But Steely Dan and Little Feat
played first... and both those bands totally blew everyone away.

A true musicians band.

Aja is still the best song to use to test out a high-end sound system and/or to ring a room.

If you are a Steely Dan fan and haven't heard "Alive in America", buy it ASAP. It's incredible to believe it's actually a live recording.

Steely Dan was really only 2 dudes (Walter Becker and Donald Fagan), they used a lot of the same "session players", but 1 of my favorites got to be Micheal Mc Donald from the Doobies, you can really hear his back ground vocals in Bad Sneakers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_fdJNeLlIs almost sounds like the Doobies =D>

It's the guitar solo on Kid Charlemagne that made me notice Larry Carlton . . . who I linked above.

STEELY DAN
A dildo in the William Burroughs novel 'Naked Lunch'. According to Burroughs, the first Steely Dan was a metal dildo that an evil German bulldyke prostitute crushed using her nether regions, and the second Steely Dan is still in use.
