Option To Make Private Games Go Public

Post by tals »

Mod Edit:

When first introduced, this suggestion was to compensate for the lack of an invite system and allowing you to get your desired teammates while keeping the game open to all others, without having to rush against the clock

Now, it isn't as relevant, but it still may be considered useful for private games that are not filling well. This may be implemented when the following points are reached

  • Set player/team limit (i.e. Once my team is full)
  • Time limit (i.e. 24 hours)
  • A "button" available to the host being activated

All related topics may be merged here, and this post updated when a consensus on implementation is made.

Idea for Private games

Post by Jamie »

How bout they make it so that when you set up a private ame, we get the option of removing the password, so that when we set up a private doubles game, and the person we want to be our P joins, we can then drop the PW, so that anyone can join.

Is there a way?

Post by luckiekevin »

Is there a way to put a password on a game you set up, say a doubles game, Then once your teammate joins you, you can pull the pw off so that other teams can enter? I'm just trying to synchronize setting up some doubles games with someone and we just aren't ever on line at the same time ever and I don't want to set up a doubles game and have someone i didn't intend to join my team.

If not, would this be an appropriate suggestion?

Suggestion: Private -> Public conversion.

Post by Backglass »

Many of us play doubles & triples with a teammate. Often times it is hard to team up, as we have different schedules, etc. There is nothing more frustrating then setting up some doubles games and then having some newb come jump in before your teammate does.

Proposal: Private -> Public conversion.

You could start a Private game, and then at some point convert that game to a public one, opening it up to all comers. This would give you time to get your team together instead of having to be sure everyone is online at the same time.

Please show me where Private-> Public conversion is on the official to-do list.

Post a reference when posting next time.

I did check the list...I always do.

The words "Public -> Private conversion" are NOT on "the list" but the concept is buried in one of the threads...a suggestion to a suggestion.

"Simultaneous team entry" is close enough I suppose and obtains the team objective, but what of NON team games where someone want to convert?

Option To Make Private Games Go Public

That is directly from the to do list under Community and Site

I stand corrected. Thank you for the reference...see how easy that was?

With all due respect to Andy, the list is difficult to navigate and could use some consolidation. I was looking under "Gameplay"...not "Community and Site".

I actually run the suggestions list now. We know it's long but soon we will have Lack working on the site full time and then the list will get shorter and that should make it easier to navigate.
