Exactly.

What I would rather see on this point is that when you search someone's games, you get the icons in the hit list as to "waiting" "ready" and "playing". That way you can tell if someone is, for example, not taking a turn in your game b/c they just walked off into a RT game somewhere.

Since you can "hide" online status anyway, I'm not sure it would help to show it in the game player listings...

Does this actually happen much in casual games? I've never received such a PM.

I've recieved two or three in my time around here.
once from a new player that kept PMing me to tell me it was my turn.
and once from a freemium that wanted a 1v1 game I started (and a few more games after that)to be "realtime".
There have been a few others, but those are the only ones I remember specifically.

Probably the most annoying thing that would come out of it would be a ton more freemium "i see you are online, do you want to RT in [insert game number] ? " PMs being sent.

I also just think that it would be a rather useless thing to show. sure, I may be online, but I might not be taking turns right now. I might be on another website, with CC just up in one of my Tabs on firefox. I might just not want to take my turns. I think an "online" icon would just lead to more waiting for whoever is actually paying attention to them.

Online Indicator

Post by Phatscotty »

Woudn't it be nice if you could scroll down your active game page and see a little green light next to a players name to know they are online? If there is already such an add-on, just leave your witty smart-alec response here. TY

please fill out this form

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • xxxxxxx (you can obviously delete this for bug reports)
  • xxxxxxx

and, if a player is online, "Online" will appear at the top right of their profile (get to their profile by clicking their name in the game list)
now, I know this isn't feasible to check more than a few games, and your idea is a good one, however, the option to hide your online status would also have to be implemented.

Yes, but the suggestion is to be able to see who, in a game, is online, without having to check everyone's profile.

That option has been implemented. Obviously, if someone has their settings set so that their online-ed-ness is hidden, it would stay the same whether you're checking from your "My Games" page, or on their profile.

ps-I know"online-ed-ness" is not a real word.

I know, and I said that it was a temporary solution, and wasn't feasible with more than a few games

Well, yes it has been implemented, I just want a box to check when you login "Hide my online status".

right, but that's not just a one time thing, the checkbox would be for the hour, until you have to login again

If you click on their username, you will see a blue bar with the word 'online' to the right of their profile, this also appears on forum posts (unless they have their online status hidden.

If you add those users to your friend list, your "Control Panel" page shows a list of all your friends, and it shows which ones are online. Whoever is online is sorted to the top of the list, above a dividing line.

So, you could just add all your teammates to your friends list and check your Control Panel to see if they are online.

Online/Offline

Post by Wingus »

This is just a suggestion more than a bug, but could you add when a user is online or offline please, as i find it a bit hard to know when it's my turn, all but waiting for an e-mail, and i know that can take up to 24 hours.

If there was an indication of who is online and who isn't...mabee then we could send an in game mail to ask them to take thier turn or something, or at least know that person is active, and not having to wait for a mail.

The mail system is great, and works great...but a little more could be done to help....most apreciated of your time:)

the current system shows if a user is online/offline (based on if they were active in the past 5 minutes I think) but any user can choose to hide this status for many reasons

already exists... but a user can choose to hide their status. seems like you are hoping to get turns taken faster, as you are a freemium. so, you can click on the members profile and find out there (unless they hide their status) OR you can click on the forums and scroll to the bottom of the page and all users online are shown... good luck... the black jesus has once again turned whine into CC goodness...-0

Hilight online players in MyGames menu.

Post by Hornet95 »

Concise description: Highlight 'online' players on the 'My Games' area

Specifics:
Put online players in blue or red font when a person accesses their 'My Games' area.

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
When I'm considering leaving for the day or night, if I am in line right after someone who is online but not currently playing their turn, I might stick around a few extra minutes to see if my turn comes up in that game. This would speed up some games, particularly games with freemiums in them.

well, the problem with this is, people would still be able to hide their online status. and since you are a freemium, and only have four games, couldn't you just click on people in your games to check their status? or, better yet, click on "FORUM" at the top of the page and scroll down to the WHO IS ONLINE section at the bottom of the page, and all online users are listed alphabetically. however, again, if they choose to be invisible, you will not see them listed here either. anyway, there are a few places to find these things out already, and wouldn't this suggestion clutter the page? however, it would be an interesting tool for people that have massive amounts of games, and play lots of freestyle games... anyway, told you where you can find the info you are looking for, if that isn't enough help, press on and good luck!!!-0

Hidden online status should still allow friends to see you

Post by EagleofGreenErth »

Concise description:
  • Friends (people on friends list) should be able to see your online status, even if you select hidden.

Specifics:
  • Make an option where you can select whether or not to allow friends to see your online status if you have it set to hidden.

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • Getting team games together will be smoother
  • Better communication, etc
