Conquer Club Survey
By Jim Save
1. How did you hear about Conquer Club? From my friend Daniel.
2. What do you like most about CC? It is like risk yet way better. I love strategy games so this fits well for me.
3. What is one thing you learned right off the bat? I learned that all my skills as a risk player mean nothing in this place. It was a hard lesson to learn.
4. What is some advice you could give to new comers? Start with small maps. And do your homework on other players. Don’t just jump into a game, know it first.
5. What do you think is the best strategy in any map? I think that the best strategy is to take the corners if that is possible, to secure your bonuses, and reinforce appropriately.
6. What do you hope to get out of Conquer Club? What I would like to get from my experience here at CC is meeting other people with similar interests and ideas about life and death and everything in between.
You can fill this out and post it here. And maybe ask your own questions and answer them yourself.

1. How did you hear about Conquer Club?
From my friend [player]brandjamie[/player].
2. What do you like most about CC?
More maps and styles make it much more interesting than Risk. And it is more convenient because you can take 24 hours per turn.
3. What is one thing you learned right off the bat?
I forgot, it was a year ago.
4. What is some advice you could give to new comers?
Don't auto-attack everything. That being said, don't be afraid to take a chance. Just because you have a less than 50% chance of succeeding in something doesn't mean that it is not the best option, though this is a common misconception.
5. What do you think is the best strategy in any map?
If it's team no spoils or standard escalating, math is key. If it's singles non escalating or multi-team doubles games, math takes a back seat to strategy, anticipating others intentions and knowing where to project yourself.
6. What do you hope to get out of Conquer Club?
Improve my skills on different play styles.

this isn't really a "survey", it is more like a 12yr old girls slam book... with that in mind, perhaps it should be moved to forum games where other threads like this are embraced, enjoyed, and appreciated by members that enjoy this sort of thing... just a thought... the black jesus has spoken.-0

1. Nobody suggested it.
2. Good strategy game
3. Hmm...I'm not really sure. Everything just came together for me.
4. Advice? Play a game with other new recruits until you get the hang of things.
5. Best strategy is the strategy that suits your aggressive, passive or balanced style. Greatly varies by map and # of players, cards.
6. Improving my game.

6. What do you hope to get out of Conquer Club?
1. I found out about ConquerClub through some friends I play Diplomacy online with.
2. I'm a wargame/strategy game nut. And with all of the different scenarios presented by all the maps, this is near perfect to feed my addiction.
3. I didn't understand 1-vs-1 games at all. I still don't, particularly.
4. It's better to stick to the same few maps until you feel comfortable with them before branching out.
5. I'm a big believer in "the best offense is a good defense".
6. Amusement. Stress relief. Work avoidance.

1. How did you hear about Conquer Club?
From an advertisement at www.itsyourturn.com
2. What do you like most about CC?
The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.
3. What is one thing you learned right off the bat?
How easy it is to, in games make miscalculations and flat-out mistakes.
4. What is some advice you could give to new comers?
Pay attention to everything possible. Plan as well as possible. Never worry about dice; just play your game regardless. Having said that, the dice can alter the course of a game; admittedly, yes. But at each given point in time, a player has got to make the best plan possible, going forward; regardless of anything previous, including dice rolls.
5. What do you think is the best strategy in any map?
In no spoils, try stay invisible until you're strong enough that it doesn't matter if anyone else notices.
In escalating, learn to screen and block; learn to best time the playing of the spoils cards.
In Flat Rate, hope you get a 'rainbow set' after only 3 turns, and your opponent is still gathering red cards; then 2 rainbow sets in the first 6 turns for you, and 1 red set with 3 cards left over for your opponent. You'd be sitting at +16 right there. In a lot of games that might clinch the battle.
6. What do you hope to get out of Conquer Club?
To exercise my patience and intellect; to share in a bit of 'camaradarie' through game chat and the forums.

1. How did you hear about Conquer Club? -I got bored surfing porn one day and thought, hmmm... I'd like to play some risk.
2. What do you like most about CC? -The dice, of course! Where else in the world can you see six consecutive sixes show up as frequently!
3. What is one thing you learned right off the bat? -That this is a dictatorship with a lot of dicks!
4. What is some advice you could give to new comers? -The best way to learn is to join freestyle Waterloo and Battle for Iraq games.
5. What do you think is the best strategy in any map? -Attack on your first turn until you have all ones on your territories.
6. What do you hope to get out of Conquer Club? -I think it's more of a matter of 'when' do I hope to get out of Conquer Club.
(Twill - I'll be waiting for your "friendly PM
)
But seriously folks -
1. How did you hear about Conquer Club? -I typed "risk games" in my browser.
2. What do you like most about CC? -Running the board in an escalating cards game.
3. What is one thing you learned right off the bat? -In the board game you can attack with about double the armies of the defender; However, in CC you'd better have 3 - 4 times the number.
4. What is some advice you could give to new comers? -Join as many games as you can with higher ranked players. You'll see better strategies, gain more points when you win and lose less when you lose.
5. What do you think is the best strategy in any map? -Map strategy probably isn't as important as knowing good strategies for the game types. -i.e. -in escalating cards games it's less important to hold bonuses than it is to build strong forces, preferably in separate places on the map.
6. What do you hope to get out of Conquer Club? -It's just a pastime, so I don't hope to really get anything out of it other than a diversion from the routines of daily life.
