Thank you. And you're right...it's actually the most interesting aspect of it, for me.

looks like people avoid 4 categories of maps:

small maps (Doodle, Luxembourg etc)

complex maps (Waterloo, Iraq, etc)

maps which are confusing or just not pleasing the eye (Rail Maps, Conquerman etc)

maps with special rules (AOR, City Mogul)

looks like nobody votes huge maps out

Most complex maps are huge. IE Supermax, Waterloo, Conquer Man, Actium, Bamboo Jack, AoR, etc.

Yes, I think you're right. For me personally, I've always loved the big maps anyway (Qwert is my hero!), so that's also what I hope for in the tournament simply because I THINK (in my unscientific opinion) it helps to avoid the drop-advantage.

I agree, and big maps offer an opportunity for recovery if you have bad dice.. Whereas in small maps, every army counts, and may not make it past the first or second trade in.

Edit:
but in big maps.. sometimes your opponent can capture a continent or two really early.. then just makes the game sucky the whole time if you cant seem to get anything

And so, of course, I didn't get one of the bigguns. Figures. <chuckle> (Although it could certainly be worse than Australia.)

there is something strange to me in the post of the brackets... in bracket A there are 19 match-ups in round 1 and 12 in round 2, doesn't it suppose to be exacly half of the games of round 1? and because it's 64 player, isn't it suppose to be 32 match-ups?
also in round one I don't see the match up of ga7 nor the one of amazzony, who already finished their second round game...
I think it would better be that you put all of the match-ups of every round and then just color the winner in green and the loser in red (or any colors you fill like), this way it will be easier for us (the guys who don't actually see the brackets) to understand what is going on...
One last thing, if you have the time for it, you can also put the game nymber next to everybodys game, this will actually make it easier for you to follow up after the games..

Other then that you doing a grat job, keep it going :!: =D> =D> =D>

Initially, that is exactly the case. However, as individuals win (so far, we have 15 first-round winners), then I move them into the appropriate Bracket A or Bracket B listing (look below where you were looking). In fact, we've already had our first second-round winner.

bigreuben wrote:also in round one I don't see the match up of ga7 nor the one of amazzony, who already finished their second round game...

Correct. Because they've already finished that match, I moved them forward (or down to Bracket B) where they would continue on.

Good feedback. I'm not sure I'm up to going back and re-doing it all, but I will certainly consider it. I definitely want to keep things easier for you guys (which I thought I was doing with my previous methods). So thank you.

Do you mean the 7-digit CC game number (or the game number on my brackets themselves)? I'm not sure I understand...how does that help me follow up after the games? I only ask because I've actually got three and a half big-ass (yes, that's the technical term) pieces of posterboard tacked up to my wall next to my computer with the brackets on them. So as far as MY part...I really don't need any other follow-up than that. And yes, my wife is very understanding of my computer-game addictions. <laughing>

Thanks, I appreciate it.

Sadly, it looks like we've got our first (and only, which is nice) replacement. Nephilim's opponent hasn't been able to get into his tournament game because he didn't leave a game slot open (he's freemium). So I've just sent out an email to both para (the opponent) and unknownhere (our first alternate) and the first one to get in (within three days) will face Nephilim in the first round.

So you know, bigreuben, I'm going to try to incorporate at least some of what you mention here over the weekend (in both of my tournaments, in fact), so don't give up on me yet! <grin> Thanks again for the feedback!
