That's what he meant to say. I fully agree with you.
Reputation cleared. :) Never let it be said that Team CC don't investigate fairly.
Although they take bloody forever to do it...

YAY! #5 won!

Since it won by a huge margin last round, does the win stick?

yeah, it was touch and go right there at the end. I'm not opposed to the idea... final decision will come in the next day or so.

Maybe a third round with only the two of them ?

Or we could run another snap-poll with just the two favourites, to see which is most popular overall.... See what the 40% who have not voted for those two actually think...

Since #3 made such a huge leap forward to catch up with #5, it would be unfair to make this result final.
I say bring on round 3 ;)

that's about what I was thinking... and if the two mapmakers in question would like to send me an updated file they are welcome to do so. I will wait to hear back from them via PM with either a new link or an OK to go with what I have.

Map-5 has nothing on Map-3. it just doesn't make sense to me.

I have to disagree. I really like map 3, but it looks a little "fuzzy" to me and harder to read than map 5. I like the clarity of map 5 for playing a game. I like the creativity of map 3 for looking at and appreciating the artistry, but not for playing a game.

Map 5 is a nice clean and accurate representation of the region. Map 3 is just not a good map of Central America even if it looks cooler.

what's the point of doing a contest if we're going to get something like map 5? it's foundry passable but not exciting or anything better than average. no spin. nothing new or different. fine for someone doing their own map. for a contest you want something different. something that approaches special.

I could make map 5 in about 30 minutes.

Map 5 is easy on the eyes. It's simple. The font and coloration is not too distracting. One map had shading that made it difficult for the boundary name to be unseen. Another one was simply too boring and plain with no obvious work as there was only 1 color to it. The others were close but personally speaking, a map *shouldn't* be too confusing to look at. And that's what makes map #5 the best out of the lot, personally speaking!

apologies for the delay... I am communicating with the interested parties about the most fair way to proceed given the extremely close vote.

Don't worry, this project will not be left out in the cold to whither away.

The winning mapmaker will be announced - it will be up to the other entrants to disclose their identity should they choose... At least that's what happened with the Brazil revamp competition...

Darnit! Too late to vote - i gotta find more time in the week to get into the foundry!
How many days am I late by?

Well anyways - my vote would've gone with #3. 1 vote really does make a difference - I apologize to the map maker of #3 for not getting here sooner (though I did vote for it in round 1).

I couldn't justify voting for any other one - RJ's comments ring true for me - an experienced map maker could produce 5 in under an hour - there's nothing interesting about it - CC would be worse off without a piece of art like 3 available for play.
