I am very pleased with how this came out now that we have those annoying graphics comments out of the way can we start talking about gameplay?

Just a quick note, you should put the new map on the first post.

I have a feeling only four bonuses is going to be a HUGE drawback to getting this through the foundry. Perhaps find a way to add terts and/or break up the bonuses?

The graphics are moving in the right direction, but still need a bit of work.

there are only 2 territories that are guarded by other territories from their bonus (westhampton and westhamton beach) that i don't think is going to me to fun for gameplay, maybe if there are some impassables or someting

Yes, I know the graphics are nothing special, but they serve as a clear draft while we work on the gameplay.

I don't know the actual geography of The Hamptons, so maybe Sailorseal can help me out - could our 5th continent be the beaches along the east coast? Break them all off, and put up windbreaks between the beach and the residential area, with a few paths where necessary. We kind of gloss over the beaches in this simplified map, but there's a clear, straight line of sand all down the coast on Google maps.

There are also a few parks on the island ... we may be able to isolate a few territories if we bring them in as impassibles.

Lastly, we're not using some of the funniest names in the Hamptons! Scuttlehole? Hardscrabble?

It may get crowded with many more boats, as they take up a great amount of room as they are currently set up.

What we could do, if the only way to create more 'continents' was to do so with the boats, is break the boats into teams/fleets/yacht clubs. A bonus that needs 8 territories on a map with only 23 or so is rather impossible to ever achieve. Either we gain more armies for certain numbers of boats, or for owning certain boats.

We could even mix the boats at sea, so you could get a bonus for owning all the boat A's (B's, C's), except that none of the A's touch each other and are hard to defend.

I am very familiar with yacht club names in the hamptons.
Here is a list:
Shinnecock Yacht Club
Westhampton Yacht Squadron
Southampton Yacht Club
Easthampton Yacht Club

Since there are boats maybe there is some sort of penalty (takes a turn)for having to rotate the "troops" in a boat toward a specific land attack point. The direction a boat faces could be cloaked?

Well turning a boat takes time. Some of the boat manuevers are 180 degree sweeps that takes 2 turns, or a turn, lose one troop on a assault.

The only way to do that would be to add a killer neutral on the attack path of a boat. Meaning that to attack in any direction, the boat loses a troop.

There is no way to do what you are planing with the xml currently.

it's not the XML, it's a feature. Trench Warfare is awaiting just a new feature before it gets any further — it's something lack has to specifically program

You're right ... 3 territories each. Is that too few? Should we beef it up with 8 more somethings?

Sailorseal, what is that strip of well-occupied land northwest of The Hamptons, the one faded out on the map?
