Ultimate Doubles Tournament

Nmhunate and I are announcing the creation of a new tournament on the Siege! map. We hope you all will find it appealing.

Name: This tournament will be called the Ultimate Doubles Tournament (Siege!)

Purpose: Conquer Club is a game of intense strategy and skill, but, like life and real-life warfare, is heavily impacted by the vagaries of fortune. Any one game can be decided by an unlikely dice roll or a favorable card distribution, so that often times lesser players are able to defeat even the best.

However, with a sufficient sample size, the best players and teams will distinguish themselves. With this in mind, we are creating this tournament with the goal of maximizing the impact of skill and strategy, while minimizing the influence of fortune. We have decided that the best way to do this is to create a tournament with a very limited number of teams (8), which will be called upon to play each other in a large sample of games.

We feel that the two teams that rise to the top of their respective divisions will be the best in the tournament, and the winner of their championship series will be acknowledged as the best team in the tournament.

Format: Eight (8) doubles teams. The teams will be divided into two divisions of 4 teams. All games will be Siege!, flat rate, sequential, unlimited.

Eligibility: All players are welcome. Since we will be playing three games at once it is recommended that you are a premium member.

Schedule: Each team will play each team in its own division 12 times, and each team in the other division 6 times. The games will be divided into 3-game series. Each game of the 3 game series will be played simultaneously. (For example, team x plays team y in a series of three games, and all three games are played at the same time.) Each team, accordingly, will play 60 games.
New rounds will begin every week. You must join your games within three days of receiving the invitation. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture o f he games for that round. Please be sure to have someone available to replace you if you will not be able to make any games (see below “Alternates”). In addition, tournaments fail when teams fail to join their games repeatedly. Before you join, please be sure that you will be able to play all of the games. Accordingly, we will only accept premium members, because you need to be able to play three games simultaneously.

Team Names: Each team will be asked to choose a team name. This name can be any that both team members agree upon.

Alternates: Each team will be allowed to have one extra player to serve as an alternate to maximize efficiency and speed up the competition.

Championship: The team with the best record in each division qualifies for the league championship series. The two teams will play each other in a best of 9 championship series. The first team to win 5 games will be declared league champion. The championship series will begin the week following the end of the regular season, unless tiebreakers are needed to decide either of the divisional champions.

Tiebreakers: if two teams should finish the season with an identical record atop a division, a one-game playoff will be played to decide the divisional champion. The championship round will begin immediately upon completion of the tiebreaker.
