"Convert speed game to casual game" button...
Well you get the idea, you join a speed game with two other people to play away an hour and three hours later you're still slogging it out with each other.
If we all press a "Convert speed game to casual game", the game converts to a casual game and we can continue instead of people deadbeating because they have to go to work or such.
I think it's not a realistic thing to do, but it would be nice! Too many speed games that have turned out like pancakes... you're all excited at the start but three hours later you're feeling a little sick but you can't stop...
What do you reckon?

I think its a good idea but i have never had a 3 hour long speed game. The longest one has gone is 30 minutes. But then again i dont play 6 player speed games. I dont even think there should be 6 player speed games because you know some1 is gonna deadbeat

This is a good idea. I've had a game just like the one you described. After 3 hours, one player got sick of it and put all his men on one territory and ran around the board, then another suicided into me. I got knocked out, then those two left and the only remaining player won after three rounds. It was good for a bit, but I'd much rather have been able to put the game on hold than ruin it.

Would it make sense any other way?
I think in addition to this there could also be a pop-up notification to the other players: "Player X has requested that the game turn into a casual-timed game." This way, even players who might not check the chat would know that somebody wants to turn it casual. It should only pop-up once, after the first time it is pressed (or, when there are zero people with the button toggled, a person toggles it.) You should also be able revoke your request, in case you accidentally pressed it or you change your mind.

yep i was in a game the other night where we all wanted to do this as the game had gone on way too long and all bar 1 of us who was working the night shift were trying to get to sleep. in our game there would have been a consenus to switch to casual if the option was available (read the game chat). this would be a great addition.

Don't now why people on here don't like being cooks, remember under siege: A former SEAL, now cook, is the only person who can stop a gang of terrorists when they sieze control of a US Navy battleship.

speed to casual
there needs to be a button that changes speed games into casual games.. We have been playing a speed game for way to long and all wish we could change it into a casual so we would not have to die because we cannot stare at our comp screens anymore. thoughts?

Huge fan of this idea.
See http://www.conquerclub.com/game.php?game=2838773 for example. Two hours and counting.

Re: "Convert speed game to casual game" button...
the idea is great but assume this situation.
3 players in a stalemate lasting for over 3 hours. 1 of them suggests pressing the button, another one agrees. the third players sees the other 2 are willing to turn this into a regular game so he suspects they want to leave. he has a lot of time so he plans on waiting and waiting until they deadbeat. the other 2 players suicide on him when they see he doesn't want to press the button. then we have bad ratings foe lists complaining in the forum, etc.
so i think there should be just a majority instead of a unanimous decision. for example in a 3p game 2 should be enough, in 4 we need 3 in 5 also 3 and so on..

You could make it a majority dicision tho, so that if two wanted to and 1 didnt it would turn into a casual game

Re: "Convert speed game to casual game" button...
I like this idea. Only thing is I can see where some people might use this to force others to deadbeat. Say, four are playing. Three want to quit, but the loser says "no", knowing that the others might then deadbeat.
Also, if one or two want to quit and one doesn't, they could threaten with poor ratings, etc.
What if there is a set time limit.
For example after three hours or so, any of the players or a majority or two of the players can ask for a change to casual. This could potentially cause problems for those who cannot play the next day, though.
So, what if it is a option ... You know when you start the game that this will be a speed game for a set amount of time. It could be 3 hours, 2 hours or perhaps the person setting up the game could specify a specific time limit -- 1 hour, 2 hour or 3 hours. I think 3 would be the maximum necessary, if a game goes on that long ... I think most people will agree a break is warranted.
After the set time, the game would either be converted to a casual game automatically OR it would be up for a vote, more or less as described above. Everyone would know this in advance, so anyone who CAN'T play a longer game would avoid it. However, it would make the game go faster. In eight player, particularly, this would probably give enough time to knock out at least a couple of players, which would significantly reduce the overall game length.
The automatically timed game might be easier to program, too?

Re: "Convert speed game to casual game" button...
Agreed and seconded and so on,
My suggestion would be to let the player starting the game choose either a time or number of rounds after which the game would automatically become a casual game.
See Game 3815452
for what prompted me to come here.
One player went on an a-hole mission then one had to leave when the three remaining wanted to put the game on "pause"
