That wind is insane! Nearly blew my car of the 205 bridge this morning!

Hey flex - since you are a fellow Portlander, you might be interested to know I have a map of Portland in the developmental stages of the Foundry. When you get caught up on tourney games, I'd love to get your feedback on it.

That's great lost...can't wait to check it out.
Sounds like it's going to be whacky around here for a week or so. I'll get standings updates up Tuesday sometime...all the Game 15s are now out though.

Kansas State downs Baylor in a miracle comeback...having thrown in the towel after a failed attempt to break Baylor's bonuses in round 7, even posting a "gg" surrender flag on the message board, Coach Lincecum's reserves somehow withstood a deploy of 13 troops directly against them, and then thrilled the home crowd in turning the game around to eventually win in round 10.

Xavier was thrashed by #14 Rhode Island in a quick 5 Round blowout at home.

A despondent Coach Limbo spoke at a frenzied press conference after the game:

"What happened? What happened??? We let them off the hook - that's what happened. We went out there and let that number by their name scare us into playing a pathetic game. We didn't show up. Its that simple. We had no offense. We couldn't make a shot to save our own grandmothers. I've never seen so many airballs in my life (losing 2 on almost every attack). We had a chance to take the lead early and we blew it - we gave it right back to them - had no defense and we phoned in the second half."

"Coach Limbo - tonight your team's three point percentage tanked - what changed?"

"You want to talk about our three point percentage? Is zero a percentage? (never got a chance to cash cards). What changed? I think my players might have forgotten what the rim looks like. "

"Coach Limbo - you seem abnormally upset for a game that few were predicting you to win. Did you enter the game believing you could pull off a victory?"

"Frankly, I'm just embarrassed by how we played. There's a difference between losing a close game and a blowout, but I don't want to detract from Rhode Island's win - they were gracious winners and I wish them the best, I just hope we show up to play when they host us this season. No more questions."

Sorry it's been such a long delay since the last standings post...I'm taking this chance to double-check the standings at the midway point to insure their accuracy and will post sometime Wednesday hopefully.

 Coach Plash Ricrem of Vermont was in attendance at the game and had similar thoughts on the game. "That was just an ugly ugly game. I know from our run in with Rhode Island that they're very good, but jeez I didn't expect Xavier to get whacked that badly. I wish them both luck in their upcoming games (except against us obviously...)" When asked why he was watching two of the other top teams in the conference slug it out, instead of perhaps prepping for a road game at UMass he had this to say, "Look have you seen Umass's home record lately? They're fricking untouchable. Their coach is a legend, I think he just recently won his 1300th career game! Congratulations btw. But seriously, I've seen their facilities, it'll be a very tough challange for my team, and I hope we can at least give them a game."

note: At press time Vermont and Umass were in the early stages of what appeared to be a defensive struggle, we will have a full recap of that game when it becomes available.

The Game 28 set will be the final week of the regular season...followed by conference tournaments, and finally the March Madness championship and NIT tourneys.

So that works out to about another 6-7 weeks before we hit the tournament.

Coach Ricrem adresses the media following his team's loss to Umass in 11 rounds (3852476)
"I don't have much to say about this one. It's finals week so I was afraid the team would come out a bit flat. Umass is nearly unbeatable on their home floor, I"m not sure anyone has beat them there this season. I thought we came out well, but there was some miscommunication when I wanted to push the tempo (accidentally attacked the wrong territory) which didn't help matters. Just gotta regroup now finals have ended and be ready for our next game is all.

Transcript of Fresno State coach Steve Cleveland's post-game press conference, following a seven-round loss to New Mexico

Press: Mr. Cleveland, seemed like you had a good opportunity to grab this one early, but then...

Cleveland: Seems like you have a stupid face.

*Cleveland throws a glass bottle at the member of the press corps who asked the question*

Press: Was that a beer bottle? Have you been drinking?

Cleveland: What the hell else am I goooonna do? The guys have no h*hic*heart. Can't hold on to North America-- oops, 'scuse me, those funny, uh, green shapes up there on the left. It's like the guysh don't care anymore. We lossst five straight gamesh.

Press: Are you allowed to drink on campus here?

Cleveland: Who the hell knows? Lissen, I gotta go take a leak. Then I'm gonna go check out that aerobics class all the cheerleaders are in. See ya.
I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me.

hahahahaha! great post. made even funnier when you imagine Jeff Bridges as 'The Dude', in this robe and shorts giving the press conference. would have been perfect if Coach Cleveland was smoking a roach too.

Xavier overcomes Charlotte in a 5 round win on the road.

A bubbly sideline reporter with too much makeup and just the right amount of cleavage managed to grab Coach Limbo for a brief interview as he was leaving the court.

"Coach Limbo, you had some strong criticism for your team following the loss to Rhode Island. How does it feel to follow that with such a dominant win tonight - on the road?"

"Sometimes you have to show your players tough love, because that's what gets results. What's important is that we bounced right back and didn't let the loss get to us. When we play steady offense and smart defense and hit our 3s, we win games. The next step is keeping it together when we face a powerhouse team."

"Coach Limbo - this win puts you neck and neck with Vermont and UMass. Will the team be celebrating tonight?"

"You bet your ass we are - and you better be there!" *playfully slaps her ass as he heads towards the locker rooms*
