i think mongol empire would be cool as that is an area sort of neglected in out current maps. i might try my hand at a boston map this winter break. i don't know if i will have the time or the skill but i'll give it a shot.

Sports Maps
I, like a lot of other players, don't come from the US of A or Europe. Personally maps of those places tend to leave me a little cold, e.g. too USA-Centric for my liking.
However, sport is much more international.
How about any of the following:
Tri-nations rugby map or Rugby Sevens Map. Fiji, Tonga, NZ, Aussie, UK, Japan, Argentina, S. Africa Wales, France, Ireland, N. Ireland, Italy ... using the teams as continents.
Alternatively what about some of the soccer (most followed sport in the world) maps (Juventis, Rio-Madrid, Beyer-Munich ...)
THen of course ther eis the fast food wars maps ... KFC, Pizza Hutt, Wendys, Burger /king, McDonals etc ... all beating each other to a pulp (then selling the mush to the masses hehehe ).

Two ideas, related themes, neither using typical geography:
1. The human brain. The territories could be the parts of the brain i.e. neocortex, frontal lobe, brainstem, hippocampus, nerual node, &cetera. The 'continents' could be areas grouped according to major functions i.e. vision, speach, motor, memory &cetera.
Here's an image of the brain with lots of bits pointed out, altho it's kind of busy:
2. A map based on the debunked theory of Phrenology. The territories could be the various areas that phrenology claimed were related to the human traits i.e. combativeness, secretiveness, cautiousness &cetera. I'm not sure on the 'continents' breakdown for this idea.
Here's an image of a phrenologists chart, altho it's not in english.
EDIT: I've seen both these ideas in the Developmental Atlas, which I guess I should have checked first...

Here's an idea that I'd make if I had any skill at graphics: Airports.
Each 'continent' would be represented by and based on a major airport i.e. JFK in New York, Pearson in Toronto, Heathrow in Middlesex, Fiumicino in Rome, Haneda in Tokyo, &cetera. The territories would be the various parts of the terminals including domestic, international, check in, baggage claim, runways &cetera. The airports or 'continents' would be linked together at the runways, much like in real life.

The map would somewhat be like a normal map, except that in order to hold your 'continents', you need a 'Power Supply' or 'Transformer'. This idea branched from Jota's idea of shared countries for continents in the Space Map. I think some sort of 'Power Supply' idea could be interesting for play, since it wouldn't be too similar in feel to Jota's Space map idea, though you could argue that it is.

I like the idea of this map and might try to make it, anybody want to see it or not.

Same thing with this map idea.
Also, can somebody update the 1st post to see which are taken, and a better reffence of what's out there. It's long to look though the whole thing.

How about having a map that has some small countries (like S.A. for example) be worth a lot of bonus men, and big countries not worth as many (1-3).
You see, once somebody captures say South America, people think, oh its just 2 armies... but those 2 armies add up. However, when somebody is trying to hold Europe, lets say, nobody is going to let them cause its a Whooping 5 ARMIES! OMG
so, my idea is have smaller countries with 2 or so borders be easily accessible (i.e. in the middle of the map) and be worth alot of men. Nobody wants to let someone hold a country with a bonus of 4 of 5, so they'll do their best to destroy it, while those people who after many rounds defeat their enemies in that big country, people won't necessarily come after them, since they are only receiving 1-3 armies a turn.

I've read this idea a few times now (you posted this in this same thread a month ago). I don't know how this would work out. In fact I don't think it would work out. I like the larger bonuses for contenents that are harder to keep - you have more contries and borders to protect its only fitting that you get more armies than holding a smaller continent. If smaller continents got bigger bonuses it would make those smaller continents a heck of a lot easier to hold. It would be nice for those people who hold the small continents, but everyone else would be unhappy and think it is unfair. So I think that it would go something like this: the person who first gets one of the small continents would probably win almost every time in a situation like this.
