Well thanks for the interest and feedback on this so far.

Just to give anybody that doesn't understand the format of how we'd start. I've drawn up how the starting divisions would look with the people who have given a definite yes thus far.

division 1.......division 2..........division 3

Phliam...........incandenza........timminz
Jboy..............nesterdude........lb ninja
tyche73..........cundy..............lindax
waynemgough...paddy the cat....breakerwma
nephilim......... robinette.........maasman
pedronicus.......cisco2001........geigerm

Anybody of any rank is welcome but being premium is a must. It would be better if the 5 games per season were all played concurrently.

Also I agree that maybe a couple of extra points could go to the winner of each game.

Hopefully if we keep getting this amount of interest. We can get this up and running early in the new year.

Well. For me it all depends on the league scoring system. If you award 6 for winner, 5 for second (as in the original proposal), somebody winning 3 games could still score lower than somebody winning no game at all. And that´s kind of ridiculous, no ?

I really like 6-player Escalating games, but awarding points for the runner-ups seems questionable to me. Being eliminated first or last, you lose. If you introduce points for runner-ups, you risk changing the nature / character of the game.

I concede, that it might make sense in order to avoid ties at the end of the season, but then points could be awarded in a way, that even 1 win will already score more than 5 times coming second.

I expect, that ties (5 players winning 1 game each, or 2 players winning 2 each) might be a problem anyway. I´m not sure, if the order of eliminations should decide the outcome of a season in such a case, but then I don´t have a better suggestion either.

And please don´t get me wrong: I like the idea and am really interested. :)

uh oh... this means i really didn't understand the scoring system afterall...

And I agree with everything ahunda said above...

sooooo... heres a suggestion...
All players get as many points as the number of rounds they were in, and the winner gets 50 bonus points.
Or some variation of that.

The old style of F1 scoring used to be:
win 10
2nd 6
3rd 4
4th 3
5th 2
6th 1

it made winning more important. just a thought - but it's your tournament. I'm happy either way. :D

Thanks to everybody that showed some interest in my idea, alas it doesn't seem to have provoked enough interest.

This site is all about fast computers, clickable maps, gimmick maps and noob farming nowadays. It's possible the owners are trying to further distance themselves from the strategic board game that first lead me here. Whatever, it's no great loss and my bird for one will be happier.

ps, joecoolfrog get a life and stop sending me pm's you pathetic little person.

I still think it's a great idea. I may try and set something up. However, right now it's the busiest time of the year for us. Maybe someone can remind me in a few weeks?

I would volunteer to run this, at the same time as my two player league, as a continual tournament (ie. there won't be an absolute winner, just a winning player every set number of games, then a promotion relegation and a new round).

The only thing I'd change is a set class of maps (standard, 40-50 territories, no funny business) and no points for second place. Second is just the first loser, and in a lot of escalating games, the last person eliminated is the least likely threat (and that's why they're left til last).

In fact, I'm going to write up a post for it now and PM everyone who replied here. See you all in the tournament.
