Who is Jimbob? He is some dude watching The Hills in his dirty house on his 52" flatscreen that he got from his stimulus check.
Lets talk about every table top general and liberal fanatic's favorite topic. Iraq...
It has come to my attention that my beloved brothers and sisters of America have become very misguided about this little fiasco in the Middle East. Their lives have become so torn the past 5 years as we have duked it out in Iraq and Afganistan, blowing hundreds of billions of dollars and "wasting" thousands of American and allied lives as well as hundreds of thousands of innocent civilian lives. It seems, as of late, that a Nation that hung flags so proudly on every house, shop, business and gun store has since abandoned that unity and divided itself based on lame promises of "change". I think that same thing was done in Russia a few years back but thats another topic. That my precious country has since forgotten that this has been going on for the past couple of decades. Although many don't know because they are stuck on MTV or liberal bloggers and other diseased media outlets. It saddens me to see that it has come to this. If you are still interested, read on because I really want to vent this....
The "war on terrorism" has been going on for a long time guys. It started to buildup during the Iran/Iraq war that pretty much destroyed both countries and left both countries in shambles. A war that the United States supported in order to stop the spread of fundamentalist Islam from Iran west to our more moderate and western minded buddies.
We used Iraq as a buffer, and Saddam fought them as long as he could. When he was unable to do so and his country was left ruined he resorted to taking Kuwait. I'm pretty sure most of you know what happened after that. Iran had recovered by this time and was well on its way to surpassing its former enemy. After we pretty much screwed Saddam over, we started to realize that Saddam was not capable of running his own country, much less do the "job" that we intended him to do. So after the 9/11 attacks (may they rest in peace), We started beating our own war drums. Regardless of the information provided, we had commited ourself to this cause long before we ever even elected Bush. Taking Afganistan, then Iraq and acting as the buffer ourselves. I don't care if you agree with the way we handle business there, nor do I really care if you agree with our involvment in the first place. For hundreds of years the United States has acted as the cornerstone for freedom and democracy. It is no different now. The terrorist mindset is a threat, it was proved to be a global threat on 9/11.
It has since proved to still be a global threat. "In order to have peace, you must prepare for war" I could go on for days about this subject so I will let it go here, I'm sure someone will motivate me to continue shortly. By all means this topic is very open for disscusion.
Iran is a global threat, the "war on terrorism" is a proxy war with Iran.
Thanks for reading and thanks to everyone for their support of their troops, even if they don't agree with the war itself. I am proud to defend all of you.

Re: Jimbob For President 2012!!!!
If I remember correctly the US supported both Iraq and Iran to the war. Some kind of divide and conquer policy.
Re: Jimbob For President 2012!!!!
Not since the Iranian Revolution in 1979, Iran used to have a pro-American Shah. After the revolution he was replaced with a blatant anti American Ayatollah. Since the Carter administration there have been multiple incidents that have damaged our relations with Iran.
The embassy incident where they took the American embassy hostage in Tehran. Which started causing US sanctions against Iran.
Then there was the 1983 bombings by Hez bi Allah (party of God) which we have also seen recently in the more recent clashes in Palestine. Alot of controversy points that Hezbollah is government funded by Iran itself.
Also the ever famous Iran contra affair...
Lastly in order to make things even worse there was the Iranian commercial flight that was shot down by one of our cruisers resulting in innocent loss of Iranian life (rip)
If there was a split support during this war I am not aware of it. Although we did support their coup during 1953. That is all I am really familiar with. If I am mistaken then I appolgize.
I'm not saying that we totally supported Saddam and we screwed him over, I am just saying that our involvment with Iran goes alot farther back than alot of people know. That the "war on terrorism" is a proxy war against Iran.

Bump... since there seems to be so much confusion about the "War on Terrorism"
Re: Jimbob For President 2012!!!!
The US is a bigger threat to world safety that Iran could ever hope to be. Anybody who thinks otherwise is a delusional brainwashed little lapdog.

OOOoooh boy someone needs to brush up on his Iranian history.
The "pro-American" Shah was indeed pro-American. He was essentially a Western puppet put in place by the British during WWII in hopes that he would be more open to their interests. He was. He basically allowed the west to f*ck Iran out of oil revenues during his reign.
The reason people overthrew the Shah to begin with was because of Operation Ajax, undertaken by the Americans to depose the DEMOCRACTICALLY ELECTED Prime Minister Mossadegh, who took the popular action of nationalizing Iran's oil reserves.
Believe it or not, America was POPULAR in Iran prior to Operation Ajax. When it was discovered that Mossadegh's overthrow was a joint effort between America and the Shah, it makes sense that they would both become very unpopular, and the unrest opened up a gaping hole which Islamic fundamentalism came to fill.
The Islamic Republic of Iran is largely our fault. The Ayatollah would never have come to power if we had simply let the secular and reasonable Mossadegh go about his democratically elected business.

Wow, ok thanks for that useless interjection. I'd love to hear your facts supporting that tidbit of information.

I did not go into details with my examples for length. But thank for you making that point. The examples given were general and broad. I'm glad you are going into more detail about Operation Ajax. I also never said in this post who's fault it was and who's fault it wasn't. It was merely giving examples of events that happened to strain relations with Iran. Most people do not even make the connection between Iran and our situation with Iraq.
Re: Jimbob For President 2012!!!!
Does anyone really think we'll live to see the next president of 2012? (Obama will most likely be dead or in jail by then).
