I like this set up and idea a lot but cant join (the finals of freestyle would cripple me with the holidays upon us)

if it were all sequential i would of tried

And thanks for the comments Blitz (: I'll probably be doing a similar one when this one's done, just that it won't have a pirate theme to it. And of course I'll be tweaking the setup to suit the next theme, whatever that is

Okay, I've done the seeding for the top 16 players, which is reflected in the bracket on the second post. The other 16 were randomly placed with their opponents using Random.org. Yea, so I'll be using that bracket for the first 3 rounds of the tournament (:

Update

It's been slightly over 22 hours since the classes began, and all the teachers have commended on the punctuality of all students, demonstrating everyone's good attitude towards the classes. It looks like the candidates on the waiting list will all be rejected.

Much more impressive is that 3 of the 16 classes have already ended within such a short period of time. In 2 of these 3 classes, seeded students denkel (8) and HighlanderAttack (7) both triumphed over their unseeded sparring mates, zissou2 and ultraman respectively. Meanwhile in the other completed class, unseeded student, drake_pk7, manage to out-navigate wrexham, the fourth seed in the candidature of this year's intake, making it the first upset in the Academy this year!

Thus, denkel (8), drake_pk7 and HighlanderAttack (7) will continue on in the Academy in Round 2 of classes. But if any of them happen to drop out for any reason in the next round, their Round 1 sparring mate will be invited to take his place.

For now, the rest of the classes will continue their navigating lesson/challenge till one of the students get lost at sea. Work hard at it!
