Re: Declining activity on the site??
Well lets be fair- a picture of our new "classic" map on the front page doesn't exactly inspire new membership
I found CC on google a few years ago, and that homepage was the first thing I saw. I probably would have been less impressed if I saw a bunch of boxes connected by lines, ya know?

Re: Declining activity on the site??
An interesting thread.
To be fair through, take a look at the year on year graph, and not the 6 month graph on comscore:

We see a massive drop at this time of year, every year. August-Oct are pretty brutal times - mostly people going back to school where they engage in "real life" - then when the "excitement" of school wears off and papers, exams etc. set in, we see a pretty rapid pickup in the procrastinators.
Comscore isn't the greatest overview of traffic either...they say CC only got 6200 visitors from the US, which is slight under reporting (the graph shows a leveling off in 2007, but that was a very fast growth year for CC)
I think mibi was right when he talked about map inflation - not something I had ever considered before, but interesting indeed.
Now that we are into November, hopefully things will pick up, although with all the drama recently, we may continue to see slow pickup.

Re: Declining activity on the site??
yes now it is down to 82 pages
and no classic isnt the only reason membership is declining, i could list at least 5 other reasons why in my opinion for it but wont,
because i'd only be opening myself up to all the others who cry, " instead of pointing out the problems, offer positive suggestions to fix them"

How about you read the best bit of the statement and crack on with the subject matter.
1.Like E-Tickets aren't being answered quick enough(3 weeks is a joke,nope they are serious).
2.Classic Map is the worst mess I have ever seen.
3.The forums are full of locked subjects.
4.Hectar is mis-quoting people or taking quotes out of context.
Still that being said. All these issues are easily resolved.
On the brighter side
1.I think the Halloween map rocks.
2.Its only 6 weeks until Xmas.
3.I can't think of anything else.

Re: Declining activity on the site??
I'm not claiming to be an expert on this subject and neither do I have lists of statistics to pull from. I can only speak from my experience...
I used to have between 20 to 30 casual games going at any one time. I would come on once or twice a day and play a turn on about half of them, which would take about 30 minutes. When a game was completed or I was knocked out I would join another straight away. But then came along...
SPEED GAMES!
My habits changed quite dramatically. Now I have only between 5-10 casual games going at any one time (most of those Tournament or Private Clan games) and instead, when I have a spare hour or two - I play SPEED.
If there are more like me out there not requiring as many casual games to slate their CC thirst, then surely this would help explain the problems/worries that you guys are discussing? Or maybe not?

hecter, thankyouverymuch. Anyway, as far as I can tell, membership isn't really declining at all... I mean, yes, it's less than it was a month ago, but that's what happens at this time of year... Graphs show that and I remember it happening last year as well.

Some attrition is normal. How many of you play the same games (of any type) in the same numbers you played them 5 years ago? 10?

Yeah, but I have been playing this game for 15 years. So PLAYER57832 has a valid point.
Before I joined CC I used to play a lot of mission games.6 players.I always enjoyed the kill mission best.

Re: Declining activity on the site??
i hardly ever play public games these days. sadly, its due to the fact taht ive increased in rank and just dont feel like playing sargs and below. its stupid but yeah.... and so do most high rankers.

Time to retire this much loved sig of mine with a new clan.

No, it wouldn't explain declining membership.
Maybe indirectly. With more premium people playing speed games that means there will be less games for freemium people which means more freemiums will leave. Doesn't seem like that could possibly be the cause of the level of decline we're seeing now though...

Re: Declining activity on the site??
Sometimes this site loads really slow. It takes like 5 minutes to take my turn because I keep losing connection with the site. So turns end up taking a long time. Perhaps that has something to do with people leaving? I miss the classic map but to be honest I never really played it that much.

Incorrect.
Total membership of Conquer Club is at 276,204 but the active members are at 19,981 as of a few moments ago. You are right that the number of active players is declining, but even 19,000+ is still a pretty sizable number of people to be actively engaged in one website.
Let's see, that means that the percentage of active members to total registered members is: 7.2%
That is a little lower than I thought it would be, but I think that it will move back up soon, especially with Christmas vacation just around the corner.
