The Pirate Training Academy [Winner: tanjyr]
The Pirate Training Academy
Anyone with one ship available at all times can sign up!
Is your life getting mundane? Want a life out in the open seas? Want lots of riches, and most importantly, lots of RUM? Well then piracy is the life for you! But before you can be a full fledged pirate, you need to prove yourself worthy of being one!
Gameplay
The first 3 rounds of the training course will pit you against another single pirate hopeful, in other words, a 1v1 structure, where pairings will be based on seeding. Each round will be a different course, and thus will take place in different environments. Since it will be the first time you are in these environments, you will not be familiar to your surroundings, and your vision will be clouded.
After these 3 rounds, we will be left with the top 4 pirate hopefuls, who will then face off against each other in a group, in a knockout round which I shall elaborate in greater detail below. In this final round we shall be revising your previous work, and thus you should be familiar with your environments, and you will be able to sense everything around you.
Round 1 - Water Familiarization
Before you can embark on any pirate conquest, you first have to studies the seas and oceans that you will be traveling around in. Good map knowledge is essential in planning routes to potential attacking sites, and to plan quick escape routes to areas of refuge.
Map: High Seas

Order: Sequential
Cards: Escalating

FoW: Foggy
Advancing: 16 of 32
Round 2 - Merchant Looting
One of the things pirates do for a living: loot merchants. Thus you must study the trade routes in a given area, and practice looting from these merchants who possess great wealth. Best of all, there even is a pirate cove present in the area which will allow occupants large benefits.
Map: Age of Merchants
Type: Standard
Order: Sequential
Cards: Escalating
Fortifications: Unlimited
FoW: Foggy
Advancing: 8 of 16
Round 3 - Treasure Hunting
The most exciting of any pirate's adventures is easily treasure hunting. The Pirate Training Academy have hidden some treasures within this area, for you to discover for yourself. You can even keep the treasure that you find during this course.
Map: Treasures Of Galapagos
Type: Standard
Order: Sequential
Cards: Escalating
Fortifications: Unlimited
FoW: Foggy
Advancing: 4 of 8
Round 4 - Final Testing
Before we recruit you as a pirate, we'd like to make sure you know your stuff. Thus we will be re-conducting all 3 previous courses one at a time, and pit all 4 remaining pirate hopefuls against each other. But there's no room for slacking off, as this final revision course tolerates no sloppiness. After each course is completed, the pirate hopeful with the least total points will be removed from the academy. These points are accumulative over the entire round.
Also, as you should now be familiar with your surroundings, your vision of your surrounding is no longer limited, as they were in the previous rounds. Also, like in actual pirate warfare, there is no gentlemanly taking of turns, but only savage chaos, which has no order. Most importantly, we believe that if you turn up too late, the spoils will be gone and there will be none left for you. Thus, in each game the last person to join the game will receive a 1 point penalty.
Maps: High Seas, Age of Merchants, Treasures Of Galapagos
Type: Standard
Order: Freestyle
Cards: Escalating
Fortifications: Unlimited
FoW: Sunny
Point System: 1st - 10pts, 2nd - 9pts, 3rd - 8pts, 4th - 7pts; Last to join game - Minus 1pt
In Round 4, ties will be settled by counting the number of rounds each player survived in the games in Round 4, as pirates belief that resilience is key in battle. The player with a greater number of survived rounds will be saved from elimination, or win the place in our pirate crew, whichever applies. Also, if a pirate hopeful won a game, 3 rounds will be added to the number of rounds he took to defeat all opponents.
Whoever emerges victorious in the fourth and final round will be presented with a place in our pirate crew!
Notes
1. I reserve the right to change aspects of the game if anything needs changing, to ensure fairness to all players or for the benefit of the tournament.
2. If you wish to withdraw from the tournament at any time, please inform me via personal message or post on this thread.
3. Ignore list is ignored in my tournament. If there's anybody that's in your ignore list then you have to remove him/her while playing in my tournament.
4. Alliances are not allowed.
5. If you do not join the game within 48 hours, you will be replaced.
6. If you are know you are not going to be around for a duration of time, please inform me. If the period of time is short enough, I will delay all of your games.
7. Reserves will only be used for Round 1 and 2. In Rounds 3 and 4, the player that was defeated by the player who dropped out will be used as the replacement.
8. For any questions, problems etc you may voice it out in this thread or you can PM me.
