Re: 2008-09 College Hoops (Newsletter Oct. 30)
In the Semifinals of the Charleston Classic #9 San Francisco proved worthy of its national ranking easily dismissing Temple in 5 rounds. (Game #3563229)
Asked after the game what went wrong Temple coach Plash Ricrem pointed to San Fran's solid offensive balance and ability to really get out on the fast break, not to mention their tenacious defense and hustle to loose balls. Thus San Fran was able to apply pressure from the start, quickly turning the match into a blowout. He also noted the frustrating inability of his team to execute their offensive sets and conceded they got outplayed in every facet of the game. "It was definitely a good learning experience playing a team as solid as San Francisco. A program like that is what all the Temples of the world aspire to become. We'll just have to try to regroup for our next match and try to finish the Charleston Classic on a positive note.."

Memphis falls to Oklahoma in Round 1 of the NIT's.
When asked to comment on it, John Calipari said, " Yeah, but did you see Derrick Rose's excellent debut in the NBA?"
Sadly, the Tigers fell far behind early and seemed to look for Oklahoma to make a series of major mistakes to get them back in the game.

Re: 2008-09 College Hoops (standings Nov. 1)
Hello everyone...just a heads up that I'm working on the deadbeat situation.
I'm just waiting for confirmations from new players for Alabama (kevlov102) and Tulsa (Muleyak), and I've dumped Wake Forest and Florida State making the ACC a 10-team league. (I didn't want to exhaust our reserves after week one....deadbeats make my job so much easier
)
Anyway, I was working on that, so I didn't get all the game 3 set out quite yet...the tourneys have been sent and I'm working on the rest of the nonleague list. We'll see how far I get.

Illinois State over Virginia (finally) in a game where Virginia didn't seem to show up until after half-time (2 missed turns), then were dragging their feet as they used the entire shot clock every possession.

Game 3544484
Clemson goes on the fast break to beat Seton Hall in the first round of the Charleston Classic. The Atomic Tigers' second round vs. Virginia Tech looks to be a more set-based, tactical affair, so if you like some fundamentals, tune in!

Taking a moment's pause during Virginia Tech, Clemson followed up by an 8-round demolition of Charlotte. Game 3588694
Mindful of their fast start followed by utter breakdown during ACC play, the Tigers hope to keep their skills sharp throughout the winter months.

Texas did manage to beat Notre Dame while out in Maui. Texas waiting on Indiana and the fightin' Irish decided that wanted to test the longhorns out. This may have led to Texas being worn out for the Hoosiers.
Flex, not sure if you were using this as a non-conference game so i thought I would let you know the results
