Y'all is a perfectly wonderful word. Besides flowing better than 'you all'...it effectively places anyone who says it...I'm proud to be from the South, and therefore, I am proud to say "y'all" because I've heard that northerners don't say it...any way to be different from the northerners is good

Living in the south (ICK!), I HATE "ya'll". I think it lowers people's IQ's as soon as it comes out of their mouths.

I guess I'd sound like a bit of an idiot pronouncing all my syllables in the U.S.

lmao...yeah, my word is pretty much all I've got to prove it...except for a 31 on the ACT (not that the northerners will know what that means as it's not the SAT
), a 3.93 GPA, and a full-ride scholarship...

Yeah, you'd be all like "Ex-cuse me, my good man, could I trouble you for a glass of wott-tah?"
And the guy at 7-11 would be like "Uhhh, ya meen wah-dur?"

Y'all should hear my grandmother talk...My dad says that she is the only person that can make Bill (my grandfather's name) a two-syllable word. It's fantastic, if you ask me...

Now that I think about it, contractions like "yall" are probably best for people who talk so slow anyway ... less to say.
