Flat Rate World 2.1 game, 4 players

Post by TuesdayIsComing »

So this game has been going on for quite some time, a vacuum finally appeared(red evacuated europe) and I made a move to fill it, in the process killing around 650 of znoork's armies in poland and moskava).

I'm not sure what to do from here though, and any possible strategies will vary depending on how many of them attack me, anywhere from nobody to everybody.

I suppose what I'm asking is... What would you do in my position? I'm not ready to seize a win, only having 30% of the armies on the board and 45% of the armies per turn income.
If none of them attack:
Should I play defense and turtle, or attack one of them?
If only one of them attacks, I should be able to withstand the next turn... if so, do I reinforce and just try to weather it out, or counterattack, or pull back?
If more than one of them attacks, how screwed am I? Should I retreat, attack all, or attack one? If I retreat, what should I attempt to salvage?
Should I continue my deeper defense(9-29 on interior nations) to deter a prolonged penetration in the event of a border breach, or focus solely on the border?

I have some ideas, but as this situation is rather rare(for me anyway), input/advice is appreciated. The game has been going on for about 9 months, over 200 rounds, and this is the first major action in a long time.

Thanks!

I would suggest that you four make a new game, and the winner of that game will get to win the game that you can't beat. Just a suggestion, I've used it before.

Ok, not the sort of advice I was looking for...
Does anyone have any tips for *this* game? We've been playing for nearly a year and a pretend end to it wouldn't be satisfactory to anybody.

i would first mass your armies i wouldn't defend the inner countries, with those extra 250 or so i would attack into SA, then defend there, yellow won't attack becasue he knows if he does then teal will win. You should also do the same for teal, attack into his territory if you can and defend a spot, they both would not attack you because they fear the other will win. Then after you get a greater income more than then you can sit and wait it out

He's borderline retarded - don't listen to him.

Keep up your troops in Iceland. If red decides to take a bonus, it will probably be one in Europe. Don't attack Greenland. While he stays in Canada, Yellow can't get another bonus.

With 4 people, I prefer a method of preventative defense. Keep a big force behind your primary lines, to dissuade anyone from attacking you. This also helps you avoid an arms race between two territories, which usually forces them to place armies next to each other (and eventually, to attack each other when they feel threatened/bored). You can keep the troops in Iran (I think it's a little overkill), but you should probably move some off of Moscow. That way Teal will focus on his fronts with yellow.

I would defend iceland better. If red offers yellow a truce in return for yellow attacking greenland, you could be in serious trouble.

I would stall because you've got a huge army bonus per turn and then you can eventually make a move for south america.

I would weaken teal to see how yellow reacts. If he also begins to pick away at teal then hit yellow and try to claim another bonus anywhere.
That's just an idea. I'm not that good at all but I thought I'd throw in my 2cents.

It looks like it's down to 3 players now.

Maybe you should agree on 3 big battles, attacking in a round-robin fashion. Each player splits his armies in 2, and you meet up at 3 spots where the half-armies have it out.

Say player A attacks player B at a specific location, with half of each player's armies.

Then Player B attacks player C at another location, and finally; player C attacks player A at a given location.

After those battles were played out, a clear winner would probably be found.

Maybe one player would lose big, and the other 2 would fight it out from there.

This '3-battle plan' would require trust among the players themselves.

If the 3 players could work out the logistics... just line them up and have it out.... kind of like in ancient days where they cleared a forest at an agreed-upon location, and the respective armies went at it.. but a 3-way in this case.
