Original Map
[bigimg]http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s282/cairnswk/poison%20rome/poison_rome_V01S.jpg[/bigimg]

This is the family tree of the Julio-Claudian Family (i think i got everybody in, although if someone is left out, then i'm sure to be informed ;) ) I thought it would make a great map since there are aspects of divide and conquer in the family.

1. The number of territories currently on the map.
63 territories

2. The number of continents. (If this makes sense for your map)
The continents appear as the large family groups and islands appear as childless marriages.
However, the bonus system for this map is based around the family/marriage unit of which there are 26 individual bonuses to be gained.

3. The structure of bonuses.
Each family - consisting of a married couple (singularly) or a married couple with children has it's own bonus.
Husband and wife are worth +1
Husband, wife and children are worth more than + 1 depending on the number of children.
In this way, each of these groupings are like continents and islands.

Gods aso have +1 autodeplay bonus.

5. Descriptions of any unique features or areas.
Poisonings from Livia represented by figs - bombardments only.
Poisonings from Julia Livilla represented by viles - bombardments also.
The gods feature in gameplay also.

eigenvector...thanks for the post....
this is still in it's infancy and still an idea i am working on.
I was thinking that the bonuses would not be the traditional classic "continent" style, but would be for married families and the bonus would be displayed in the icon wedding ring.

If you're going to call them Zeus and Hera instead of Iuppiter and Iuno, then Caligula should be the only one able to attack Zeus, and Drusilla the only one able to attack Hera.

Mmmmm Good point. I'll have to change the names then.

I was kind of liking my idea, but I guess it doesn't make too much sense for the game play. Ah well.

cairnswk, love the idea of this map, brilliant. Is it Poison Rome or Posion Rome, because the thread title, and the map title are different?

I don't understand how the attack routes work between sons and daughters. For instance who can Drusus Caeser attack?

Another query - The +4 bonus between Agrippina and Germanicus, what family members are included there?

I need to know these before I can comment on gameplay

the legend says family unit members borders each other. therefore under classic gameplay conditions everyone can attack everyone else in that family unit.

Drusus Caesar can attack Agrippina (daughter) Julia Livilla, Nero Caesar, Cailgula, Drusilla, Agrippina (mother) and Germanicus since they are the family members that belong in that unit. I will have to note Agrippina as being Elder & Younger.
He cannot attack Lucius Longinus nor Caesonia nor Claudius nor Gnaeus Domitiius Ahenobrabus as they are married to his siblings.

Agrippina (daughter) Julia Livilla, Nero Caesar, Drusus Caesar, Cailgula, Drusilla, Agrippina (mother) and Germanicus.

Of course, but i didn't think it was that hard to determine who was in whose family. :o

Perhaps i could make Agrippina the Younger -> call her Agripinnella, i think that is what she is called in the TV Series I Claudius.

It would work anyway, since the -ella inflection is a diminutive.

So, just to clarify, by "family", you mean ONLY the father, mother, and children?

Somehow this needs to be made clearer from the map.

I've only just noticed the gods in the corners... It would be nice if there was more to draw attention to them - maybe some mural/mosaic or something?

Well the immediate family unit was made up of the husband and wife plus any children from that union.

Like MrBenn said, that should be clearer.

Would you suggest

Family unit includes husband and wife and any children from that union

be placed on the legend.

Or is it the graphic that needs fixing?
