Because it is mentioned in basically every thread that has been started since that time, it is said as soon as you log on, and if it is not mentioned in a thread, this thread, or some other one that talks about it is in the link.

I think that this has spread far and wide enough, that there is no need for an official thread, even though we have one. It is one of the sticky threads in the main GD forum. I wondered the same thing at first too.

I'd suggest trying to find one with the same territory count and continent bonuses (erm...zones?) I'd look for you....but I'm being a tad lazy.

Twill wrote:Hey everybody.

There's been a lot of activity on the changes we made yesterday. A lot of upset people (myself included) and a lot of questions. Let me do my best to address those concerns from what I know:

1) The maps are fugly. Yes, we know they are. I personally agree with you all on that point, but we had to change them to avoid potential copyright issues. Andydufresne, and Oaktown along with at least one or two users have already begun work on a revamp contest to find someone to come up with something better. We're hoping it goes up soon so we can get back to something more playable.

2) <so and so> must DIE! - no, they must not. Please do not attempt to arrange any sort of lynch mobs, class action law suits, consumer boycots or intestinal stranglings. These will accomplish nothing other than to piss off more people which wont solve anything for anyone, and trying to strangle someone may just make things worse - we don't want murder on our hands ;) Please let us handle any issues that are related to this.

3) Communication SUCKS, I'm leaving, you blow, how dare you, I want a refund - these are all fair criticisms and we are truly sorry that this panned out the way it did but again, it was something we did to avoid potential issues. All I ask is that if you have a specific complaint or suggestion please try to contact me. My inbox it flooding right now, but I will try to get to all of your concerns and address them as best as I can as soon as I can.

4) To those of you who have sent us best wishes, thank you. I wish I could thank you all personally because they mean a lot to us. I can only hope that these changes aren't too onerous and that we can continue to offer you a great game and an enjoyable site.

I know that this doesn't fix everything, but we are going to be taking steps to make things less ugly and messy. This thread is moving fairly quickly so please quote this message once every couple of pages so that future readers can keep up to date. I'm trying to read all the posts and am PMing several people to address their concerns at a pace it can be followed, but there are a lot to get through :)

Hang in there folks, pretty maps are hopefully coming :)

If you browse around in the Foundry Discussion Forum, you will find some threads about territory count, and average bonus values. Same reason for not getting the thread links myself.

I agree. Well said delahoc!

Even though I've played the board game for many years and now CC for over 2 yrs, I can actually say I have the concept of the game down and don't need visuals like names and pics of dice. But, with this being said, I do agree with delahoc about the items that shouldn't have changed due to someone mentioning "copyright". I will keep playing because I like the game and strategic aspects and that I have multiple maps to choose from and not just one. But, I will agree with the rest of the population the 2 maps in question cannot stay like they currently are and we need to start brainstorming putting some ideas together for better looking maps.

Just my thoughts...

Well maybe the community can help reinforce CC? Why don't we be a bit more supportive?

maybe for the dice they could just turn them 90 degrees each. or just color them another color.

im pretty fucking sure that normal game dice are NOT copyrighted.

I think that point has been made several times already. You're right, Hasbro cannot claim copyright (or a patent) on the concept or representation of dice. The things have been around for hundreds (some say thousands) of years. Nor can they claim ownership on the concept of using dice (or any random number generation) to determine an outcome in a game. I don't mind the new dice imagery, but I definitely don't like the new terminology they've wrapped around it.

Hey come on now, the dice/intensity cubes are the same thing really. We all know this. So what if there are numbers instead of dots? And that they are green instead of red? They do the exact same thing ;)

I'd love to, but as several posters have already noted - they haven't really asked for our input and none of us really know what the key issues are with the classic map that needs to change to make it "safe".

Call me trivial, but I just can't take this game seriously now. When I have to "Assault" someone with my "Intensity Blocks", you've lost me completely.

We got an official statement about the maps, and the dice, but can we get one about the wording change? Or did I miss that in the first 20 pages somewhere... I did not notice one in the time I was here.

P.S. My avatar is a photo of myself too Insomnia, I just used the "Poster Edges" in Photoshop to intensify the green of the shirt I was wearing at the time.
