Small Map Quads [Winners: See 1st Post]
<NS EDIT>
Winners: Blockhead15, Popeyelvc, SeamusVibe, Sour
</NS EDIT>
Looking to run a quick Quads tournament - no takers on the freestyle (but once tourney is filled, we will ask and if all teams want freestyle, we'll do it that way), so we'll do sequential. 6 teams on 10 maps. Here is my list of small maps I have currently - if there are other small maps I can use in replace of these, please let me know.
Classic
Doodle earth
Duck and cover
Conquer 4
City mogul
USA
Malta
Luxembourg
British Isles
Circus maximus
Unlimited forts, sunny, flat rate
Each team plays each other once, so we're talking 50 games.
Scoring:
Winning game in Round 1 - 100 points
Winning game in Round 2 - 50 points
Winning game in Round 3 - 25 points
Winning game in Round 4 - 10 points
Winning game in Round 5 or later - 5 points
if you win the game and have all 4 players left, you get a 2* multiplier. So if you win in Round 1, and all 4 players are alive, then your team's score is 100 * 2 = 200 points.
If we get all premiums, then we will plan all games at once. if not, we will play the games in order as listed in post 2 of this tourney thread.
Deadbeats hurt your team, so choose wisely.
Any questions, pm me.
Thanks.

Note: I think you should change out circus maximus... it may be low on territories, but its one of the longest games to play on this site :S

Re: Small Map Quads Freestyle Tournament
WFW - are you getting a team
kill - does entering 2nd mean anything to the starting position
benji - are you in with a team?
nate - I would think that the circus would go fast with freestyle quads

Re: Small Map Quads Freestyle Tournament
I see the forest through the trees - is there anyway to delay the start by a couple of hours? I was actually thinking about sending out the games, then making sure people pay attention. Maybe that's too difficult? If so, I'll stagger so that everyone has equal starting positions

kill is completely right about freestyle lol and it would be pretty hard to stager it... I would just bite the bullet and make it sequential

bad idea...if you really want to make a freestyle quads tournament, you have to make two games- so each team can go second in one game. Also, if you're doing freestyle quads i would recommend larger maps, as it is possible to completely eliminate the majority other team in the first round before they have even taken a turn on a small map.

Re: Small Map Quads Freestyle Tournament
So I make it 2 games per map per team. One time Team A signs up first - switch it up for game 2. I want to keep it freestyle since I have little patience and enjoy the quick fix. Updated game info

Re: Small Map Quads Freestyle Tournament
While I want it to stay freestyle just for pure speed of the games, I'm thinking about changing to sequential. If so, new scoring will be given.
Re: Small Map Quads Freestyle Tournament
As gameplayer suggested, let 2 teams play 2 games with each other (like we did with simor in our Freaky Freestyle tournament) - in game 1 one team joins first and in game 2 scond team joins first. That way it is balanced and equal to both teams. Otherwise this tournament will never get full and you'll get a lot of negative feedback from teams who must join first.
There's no way to delay a game (you mentioned it before). Only if you tell second team joining that they can't play before X hours has passed (that would give you extra work because you would have to check every game but this is the only way to delay it).
And gameplayer, I think block's point was to make it interesting, fast games in small maps.

Re: Small Map Quads Freestyle Tournament
Right - I changed the setup so that there will be 2 games per team per map so you start 1st in 1 game and 2nd in the other game

no movement with the freestyle, so we'll play sequential

I actually kind of liked the two-game freestyle set-up, I'm not sure if anyone else agrees though. Whichever way you decide to run it, I'll join with Natewolfman's team.
