Ok, I'm barely a Private and I'm trying to advance to a Sargeant. Should I make it back up to a score of 1000 and become a Sargeant but drop below 1000 again at a later time, will I be demoted to Private?

Yes. And the more points you get, the easier it is to lose them.

I keep getting so close to being a captain then lose 3 or 4 games in a row. So frustrating...
