The Classic map is just horrible!!

Would also have been nice to have had a little advance warning.

They probably had to act immediately in order to demonstrate due diligence. My guess is there was no advance warning to us because they had very little warning themselves. But that's just my guess.

Sure, things are ugly now, but considering how creative and elegant the mapmakers in the foundry are, I'm confident they'll be able to find a middle ground that appeals to everyone.

What I'm most curious about is what about the other Non-Hasbro affiliated Risk knock off sites? Has anyone been over to Land Grab recently? I never really got into that site, because it's quite inferior compared to CC, but have they made drastic changes as well?

Regardless, at the end of the day, I'd rather have an ugly Classic map and CC's continued existence to the alternative, which is probably the whole thing shutting down. This is probably just the price CC would eventually have to pay for growth.

Let's all hope this is as far as the changes have to go, and not simply the beginning of the end.

I see 2 options:

a) Cut a deal with Hasbro and let them in on the money, and in return they forget about any copyright issues. I guess, many players would be ready to pay a few bucks more for their premium, if that kind of arrangement could be reached.

b) Do that contest thingy and develop new maps with the exact same game-play (territories, borders, attack-ways, bonuses) as the old Classic & Middle Earth, but with new graphics and names.

Maybe someone could make an add-on that changes what the map looks like? Until they bring out a new map...? Then the site would not be responsible for us using add-ons that make it look like RISK would they??

Well.. yes and no. The only thing that's different are the words and pictures. Everything else (the gameplay/the randomization) is 100% the same.

So if someone came through your home sweet home then rearranged all of your picture album's captions with neat letters and numbers teamed with blocks and kindergarten shapes for your family/friend's heads unannounced would you be like, "Oh well, everything else is 100% the same"?

Twill, you really need to work on your PR skills a little.
You should have known the players wouldn't be appeased with a simple 'here's the new map gang - sorry, but get used to it'.
A change this big deserves a full and proper explanation.

Anyhow, you say it's only temporary and I'm sure with a bit of work, the map makers will quickly come up with something we can all accept... eventually.
