Show Medal Progress

Post by TaCktiX »

Concise description:
  • Show the progress that players have toward their next medal

Specifics:
  • Viewing medals shows the progress towards the next tier for each medal

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • Allow people to know how close they are to the next rank
  • Avoid the complete uncertainty right now of how long until the next medal

YES.

maybe in our profiles, it could be listed:

[medal goes here] [# of kills goes here]
so those of us that are low can see how far we need to go, and those of us that already have gold, we can see just how many kills we actually have.

I'm sure it would be easy to show us our own progress. It has to be in the database somewhere to even give us the medals to begin with.

So, that seems to indicate to me one of two things:

1) They just didn't have time and were excited to get the medal system out with the rest of this batch of updates.
2) They debated and decided there was a good reason we should not see this progress.

If the case is #1, then I look forward to when they have time to implement progress indicators.

If the case is #2... I'd like to know why. My brain isn't what it used to be but I can't come up with any reasons not to let us see when I try to play devil's advocate.

In complete agreement. I was considering suggesting this myself when I realized it didn't show me the progress.

A little of both of those. Future Medal upgrades and improvements are planned, and I do think this is one of them.

In the next short while, Tournaments and Cartography Medals will be given out. It's a different, and currently, manual, process.

I think medals should be awarded on the win percentage.

For example if a player plays 1000 games and wins 50 he gets a medal with the current system. That does not mean he has skill in that particular discipline.

If he plays 1000 and wins 600, that's more a matter of skill. Bronze for winning 50%, silver for 60% and gold for 70% of doubles for example.

Also - the medals system could be fine tuned to somehow include the number of players in a game beaten.

A lot of people playing 1v1 are going to get x number of wins on different maps, rather than beating 6 players in a game on different types of maps.

1v1 is obviously easier than 4v1, 5v1, 6v1 , 8v1.... know what i mean?

Achievement Sugesstion

Post by spaceghst44 »

<Concise description:
  • There should be something that lets you know your stats for each medal, that way you can see how close you are to the next medal or what you need to do to get the next medal.

Specifics:
  • A stats page that lets you know how many times you have played a map vs. unique opponents, how many term or ass kills you have. Even under your medals, have the ones you recevied highlighted, and the ones you need shadowed, but show how close you are to getting them.

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • will provide more of an incentive for people to try new maps, hard to do now because you have to try and look though your history to find out if you have 5 unique kills on a certain map. I have over 2000 games played and that is a lot to look through.
  • I do not know if this has been listed, I looked in the forum, but did not see anything.

Showing how far away you are from your next medal

Post by cpurcell »

I was thinking that under the 'Award Details' button in a users profile, there could be a counter next to every under each medal title (the title would be there even if they user did not yet achieve the medal) that would show how many games the user has completed that matches the requirements of that medal. That benefit will be that for players who had some games under their belt when the medal system came into being would know how many of their games actually count towards the medals. Also, players wouldn't have to count how many games they completed to know how far away they are from the next medal.

Medals are broadly dependent on numbers of unique defeated opponents rather than games played.

To save yourself the counting use Map Rank:

You can get medal counts on the game finder by using a script called Map Rank.

Medal status

Post by dddangerousdan »

I like the idea of the medals. I would like to see a counter added enabling you to see your progress toward the next level. Many people wonder how close they are to the next level and might want to play a speific type of game to achieve it.

Map Rank for Firefox

Map Rank for Internet Explorer

Maprank works, but it not everyone can use it, even with the new tool. I have an older computer and when I downloaded the Explorer tool, etc it overwhelmed my computer.

There are a few folks who have done particular searches for people who asked, but doing it for more than a few would overwhelm anyone.

I fully agree, it would be nice if everyone could check their stats. I realize it might take time, is perhaps not the highest priority, but could this at least be put in "pending" or "to be implemented" ???
