I'll look into Final Forge in a few days. It does seem like it is nearing completion.

I've updated the images with the suggestions from gavin. I also attempted to tidy up the large version since it doesn't upscale very well.

I really like the way this looks, its crisp and clean and the colors flow pretty well. The big map does look a good bit better, can't wait to give this one a try!!! have you tried playing in yet?

I'm just going to comment on the visuals.

Number circles for bonus armies not circle in large map.
Continent borders not very pretty. Gippsland - Canberra border a bit jagged and Lake Eyre - Tennant Creek border is too thick, the Lake Eyre Western Downs border also not very nice.

All problems easily fixed. I'm really pissed about how much the large version gets distorted. Once the territories are all locked down and final, i'll fix those graphical issues.

And a new title to the legend? Maybe split it in 2 boxes? I would remove the river crossing from the legend, since its obvious.

Some people are really slow and need to know that theres a river crossing. I think the ledgend and title are fine.

I think the countries are finalised, just not the mountians. The uluru mountains are really not needed as they do nothing.

What do you mean?

They block Uluru from Lake Eyre
Maybe include the major river that occurs in the western border to seperatate perth and kalgoorie from pilbara. It wouldn't really do much, but it would add some depth to the pretty boring western australia
I didn't really get a response to this idea. If it's bad than thats fine. I just want to make sure you saw it.

But it doesnt really help the owner of the Northern Territory and the owner of South Australia, as it doesnt give them any less borders.

I think the mountains serve enough purpose to stay. If they werent there, Lake eyre would border 6 other counties rather than the current 5.

I added the river crossing icon because there were some having issues seeing them at some point in the maps development.

I added the mountains to Uluru to reduce the difficulty of holding Lake Eyre. Although that's somewhat counteracted by having Lake Eyre now extend back to WA. I could place Uluru encolsed within Alice Springs, but then we have the issue of WA being able to reduce it's borders too easily again.

If the general consesus is to remove the mountains between Lake Eyre and Uluru I'll do so, but I think they deserve to be there by making NT and SA just that little bit easier to hold against each other. Lets face it, these two states are pivitol against WA and Queensland.

              Final Forge

---The Australia Map has reached the ‘Final Forge’ Stage. I've revived this thread from the pits of the Foundry furnace and have examined the contents. Nearly every major concern has been addressed. If there are any other current concerns, please make your voice heard. There will be at least two days (but may extend pass that) for you to post any objections; if no one has posted any protest after two days the map will be deemed finished with the 'Foundry Brand' of approval and will be submitted for live play. If after two days there is still discussion going on it may continue until said discussion has reached the conclusion that the map has reached its final and polished version.

Post questions and concerns if any.

I'm now frantically working on the xml file to get all the numbers in the right spots.

gavin, yes the borders will be fixed for the next update.

millej11, I originally had more water on the map, including what you suggested, but there was a request to remove the unnecessary water.

Any chance we can have the title of the thread subject changed to just Australia. Now that we're at final forge stage I find the title a little odd. :)

I know its a little unrealistic, but yeah.

good idea, but maybe brisbane instead. so that territory still has only 3 borders?

This was rejected some time ago. It was decided that it wasn't right for this map, even though it may have improved gameplay.

And thanks for pointing that out gavin. I'm sure I had them spelt correctly in an earlier version but messed them up when retyping them.
