Here's a new one for ya: the territory count goes off when a player deadbeats from a team game. I noticed it here: Game 3149012 (I know you can't see specific territories, because of the fog, but you should be able to read the numbers. 4 attributed to an elminated player, and -1 to the last remaining). Everything was normal in round 4, so the only thing I can think of is a player who was kicked out and passed his 4 territories along. I'll leave the game for the next 8 hours, in case you're around and want to see it.

*edit* I had to take my turn, but I'm pretty sure the problem is that a deadbeat's territories are passed along to the next player in line, even when that player was already eliminated. In this game, with Player 1 and 2 eliminated from a quads team, player 4 deadbeated. After we took a few from him, the map shows 2 territories for Player 3, but BOB reads 4 for Player 1 and -2 for Player 3.

Hey Yeti- I went back several pages and saw no mention of this, so it may be new.

In CC City Mogul Game 3261442, Red currently holds B3, which is a "Blue Shop", but the Continent Overview doesn't show him owning it. As a matter of fact, there are 3 "Blue Shops", but only two show in the Continent Overview. B3 happens to be in the "Blue Neighborhood", so that may be why it's not getting picked up. This situation holds for all the "Color Shops" in "Color Neighborhood", (I'm picking on blue because that's where I noticed it), so it may be intended that way, but it may be an error, too.

If you get a chance to look into this, I'm happy with a fix or a reasonable explanation of why it's gonna be that way. I was following the Foundry discussion on this map for a while, but didn't hang out long enough to see if there was some decision made there. If there is a reason this is the way it's going to be displayed, you may want to figure out some way of making a disclaimer about it, or expect to answer the question here more than once.

FF 3.0.1 (WinXPsp2)
GM 0.8.20080609.0
BoB 4.6.3

Thanks!

Yeah - I realised this the other day - essentially those continents are "Auto Deploy" territories... of which I don't list any in there.

So not necessarily a bug - more of a missing feature - but well spotted anyway!!

I'm sure this will make it into the next version.

I'll have to have a look into this - there is a lot of calculation involved with this due to different rules with deadbeats in teams/termy etc...

I have a problem with BOB and I dont know how to fix it. It counts everything right and gives me the bonus info, however I cant play the game in the window. Any changes to the game board confuse it and numbers overlap and comands after the first one I give dont work. It has been going on for almost a year now and I havent bothered to get it fixed, updated BOB and firefox a bunch of times but it still dosent work. It stopped working when the 8 player mode came out. Anyway I usually just play in IE and if needed I will open another window with bob just to do a quick count of troops or to understand territory boundries. Any ideas on how to fix this? Please private message me with a solution as I may miss your post in this thread.

PM sent, but just posting in here for yeti to verify.

How many versions of BOB do you have on your computer? Go to Tools > Greasemonkey > Manage User Scripts...
If you see BOB more than one time on the left side, then delete all the extra copies.

As you said i tried removing all but 1 BOB and that didnt fix the problem, It still locks up after I do 1 action.

Might it have something to do with firefox and not bob?

I don't know if this has been asked, but Firefox consumes gobs and gobs of memory when using BOB. Going into just one game -- Prison Riot for example -- will consume 10-12MB of memory right away and does not appear to release it once I navigate away. If I revisit the map again, it uses up another 8-10MB so by the end of the day my Firefox proc can be upwards of 500-700MB in size.

The only solution I've found is to just restart Firefox, but even then it can take several minutes for the proc to finally leave from the Task Manager. Is this a BOB issue or a greasemonkey issue?

Perhaps it is just me, but I am trying to reinstall BOB after accidentally uninstalling it and now when I try to download and install it downloads something called "13706" or some such. Any clue what's going on with that?

BOB rounding error for teamStrength (v 4.6.3)

Post by JDLH »

Hi, folks:

BOB continues to delight. Thank you for your great work on it!

I think I've found a minor bug in BOB. In some team games, there is sometime a rounding error with the team's "Strength" value in the "Statistics" section. The rounding error presents as a number with many decimal places of "99999" or "0000", either just greater than or just less than a number rounded to two decimal places.

The error only occurs for some values of player strength values. For instance in my present Game 3378319, as of Round 6, player 3's Strength was 52.01, player 4's Strength was 34, and the Team 2 Strength was 86.00999999999999. This is just less than the correct sum of 86.01.

I believe that the problem is that the player strengths are rounded to two decimal places using a formula like

Code: Select all

pl_Strength = Math.round( (...some forumla...) * 100 )/100;

but the team strength is done by simple addition:

Code: Select all

teamStrength += pl_Strength;

and floating point numbers, being unable to represent 0.1 and 0.01 exactly, sometimes can't add the player strength exactly.

The simplest fix I found was to round off the teamStrength value with a statement like:

Code: Select all

teamStrength = Math.round(teamStrength*100)/100;

I inserted this statement in two places. First, between lines 3492 and 3493, leading to code looking like:

Code: Select all

if (LastTeamID != 0 )
    {
    teamStrength = Math.round(teamStrength*100)/100;    //@@@ Rounding bug fix 2008/10/13
    statsStr+= "<tr>" +

Second, between lines 3665 and (blank line) 3666, leading to code looking like:

Code: Select all

    if (isTeamGame())
    {
        pctArmies = Math.round(teamArmies*100/totalArmies);
        pctCountries = Math.round(teamTerritories*100/totalCountries);
        pctCalcCountries = Math.round(teamCalcedTerrs*100/totalCountries);
        teamStrength = Math.round(teamStrength*100)/100;    //@@@ Rounding bug fix 2008/10/13

        curpid = 0;
        nameStr = "Team " + teamID;

This fix was effective for me.

Bug found in Bob 4.6.3, running on FireFox 3.0.3 on a Mac OS 10.5.6 OS, on 2008/Oct/13.

Bob bug?

Post by Nefatari »

Bob problem

Bob was fine until yesterday. Now when I try and attack by clicking on the map it doesn't work. For example I can see I can attack a1 from a2 by the usual hovering method; I then click on a2; but when I try and attack a1 it does nothing - infact where it prevously told me I could attack a1 now all I have is me clicking frantically on a1 but nothing happens.

I can still attack using the scroll options, but attacking by clicking on the map proved useful when I can't see the top of the map.

I have just updated bob too.

This happened after they changed the classic map - and my problem occurs on all maps.

Hi Nefatari, thanks for your post.

Please note that their is a "BOB Bugs" thread in the Plugins & Add Ons forum specifically for this kind of report. I appreciate however that it is currently locked and that may be why you posted here.

Regarding BOB please note the last post in the BOB Bugs thread which advises of the current position. Once that thread is unlocked again you should see further news and, if your problem persists, you'll be able to post there again.

If this post raises any questions please PM me.
