Re: A couple of options

Post by evster »

No its not, the search button i am referring to is called the game finder and its located on the left bar under my games.

Don't know how I missed that.... yikes.....oh yeah I do... I was up until all hours with another of your flock-mates on RT.

Of course it isn't necessary. Neither is new game styles, new maps or anything else. Neither was adding the color icons to indicate who's turn it is and isn't.

It's about the convenience of using the site.

The Game Finder does not include an option to join the games, so then you'd be doing two searches, where as if you put a filter in, it wouldn't be needed at all.

I really do not understand why you are AGAINST something that would just be added for convenience.

Perhaps Troys script will do what I want.. I'll have to have a gander when I get home... but I still think that new users (and more importantly, myself) would find what they wanted if it was easier to use the site.

I'll tell ya what, if its ever added, you don't have to use it.

I think JCole is right, it is hard to scan through the list of games. How about adding a note to the Join page's text about the Game Finder and adding join links to the search results next to games waiting for players?

Join links on the Game Finder would be great! Also, it'd be awfully nice if the Game Finder used checkboxes rather than radio buttons, so you could (for example) find games with 3-4 players but not 5-6, or games with cards, regardless of whether they're escalating or flat rate.

map ignore button

Post by wcaclimbing »

in the join a game section, could there be a way to block maps that you just don't like to play on, so the list is shorter and easier to find a game you want?

ex: if i didn't like the classic map, i i would like to be able to click a button that makes it so all games with the classic map do not show up in the list of games i could join. it would make everything just a little easier for everyone.

what does everyone else think?

Well that's basically how the search function works.

I think a better suggestion is to combine the "game finder" and "join game" features. So you just search for a game and can join it right away, instead of having to remember the game number and then find it on the join game list. I believe that has been suggested before, but it would work better than this suggestion IMO.

Now that is a good idea, Sully.

if you have firefox, you can use the game listing sorter by tr0y - http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2364

this doesnt block out any unwanted games, but it may help you find the right map or settings more quickly as it puts them in alphabetical order

A better alternative would be to be able to click on multiple maps while searching.

Suggestion Allow sorting by columns on 'join a game' screen.

Post by JoeyB »

Right, my suggestion is enabling sorting by category on the 'Join a game' screen, eg sort by Game Type, Play Order etc.

I would really like to see this feature, as you could more easily select the type of games you wish, then enter the one you want.

anyone concur?

If you use Firefox, install Greasemonkey and then get tr0y's sort order script from here.

Sorting *Pending*

Post by nester »

How about a little sorting on the My Games, Join A Game, and Game Finder Screens?

How about having the game finder controls on the output screen, or maintain the state of the game finder form when using back button?

I have something similar that i use... another thing that would be nice is if it is your turn that game floats to the top of the list..but i am sure that has probably already been mentioned.

Game Selection Filter

Post by JupitersKing »

I would like to see a filter on the Join a Game page so that you can view only certain map types, game types etc.

It is very annoying to want a Std. Seq. Artic map game and having to wade through four pages of everything but.

I claim no programming ability but based on what I do know it doesn't seem like it would require a major overhaul, just a little code to make the site a bit more user friendly in regards to game selection.

Sort of, but only one type for each option....

You cant say show me classic but only assasin or standard. You have to make multiple searches. I'm asking why can't you make multiple selections in each section. A refinement, not a new system.

I like the idea, because when you use game finder, you get finished and started games too.

However, there is an "any" selection for all options.

Bumping this one :), I'd like an option to sort on available seats, so I can check easily if there are incomplete double/triple teams. The 'Join a Game' is getting quite long indeed..
