I didn't start reading them until after the fourth book came out. I've gone to all off the other release parties. I believe the first one came out before I was born or pretty close.

harry potter is ok... but really not that good. i mean... magic on that level is sort of boring... read Devlin's Luck or something better.
Also, if you are into Sci-Fi, check out the Honor series, it's starts with On Basilisk Station. They are amazing.

i thought they were pretty good. thought after the 4th book the books were just depressing and not that good..i hope the last one is the best cuz its been a let down.
A book i do like is i read a long time a go was Ranger Apprentice that is a good series so for if u like archery and stuff

If you like kids books (a la Harry Potter) because no matter what you say it's a book aimed at kids, try
"The Little Prince"-Antoine St. Exupry
"The Happy Prince and other stories"- Oscar Wilde
and the original Winnie the Poo stories, before Disney bought it out.

Harry Potter wasn't originally ment to be a kids book, but it turned out that way. I like any good fiction and since reality is constant it's a good way to get away.
