I don't know if it has been thought up before...but does anyone think it would be possible to do a map of Philadelphia similar to the NYC map already in existence? I think there is some potential and I have some ideas.

I wouldn't mind a Philly map, but not to sure if it should be "similar to the NYC map".

Subways and New York go hand in hand. Obviously I'm not from Philly, but when I think of the city I don't think of subways.

Is there another idea you were considering for a style of gameplay unique to the city?

Well, Philly does have a decent transit system, but true, it isn't what you think of when you think of Philadelphia. There are a lot of great things that could be incorporated, such as its history in founding the nation, fantastic food, and diverse community, great art, and let's not forget watching Rocky train on the steps of the Art Museum.

I don't know, what do CC members think of when they think about Philly?

Well I'm a local so I'd love to see it. but I'd picture something like this:

Historical District (Independance Hall, Liberty Bell, Franklin House, Ross House)
Center City (City Hall, Suburban Station, Penn Towers)
South Phily (Sports Complex, FDR Park, Naval Yard, Genos)
Delaware Ave (pick some clubs)

Or you could do it more regional and historical and include things like Valley Forge, Brandywine Battlefield, Washington's Crossing, The Paoli Massacre) and even Lancaster

I found this online already divided and color-coded and I'm thinking that if you clean it up, tailor it to CC, there are a lot of important things to be included. Art Museum, Fairmount Park, Stadium District, Pat's & Geno's, Center City, Old City, Rittenhouse Square, Chinatown, Reading Terminal Market, the Airport, University of Pennsylvania, City Hall, The Philadelphia Zoo, the Franklin Institute....you could really focus on just Center and South Philly and still have a decent map, or include all the suburbs and areas like King of Prussia, Chestnut Hill, Germantown, . And the subways are pretty interesting too if you wanted to incorporate them too.

I like your first map. 29 terts (which is what you have) can work. I don't really think the subway system works as well on a Philly map.

you could expand to the Delaware Valley in order to include the PA suburbs and South Jersey

I like it I'm from Philly and i think it really has potential. The subway I don't think works all that well but if you include the suburbs then you could have a SEPTA map. It would be easy to divide up ( each line could be a bonus and the three center city stations could be worth a bonus) and it seems like it would be fun but with Rail Europe and Rail USA it seems kind of redundant. I think the first map is the best for it.

I've got no grpahical skill, so I couldn't expand it much. I also have arough version that has all the suburbs. What does everyone think?

I really like the concept and the general layout of that map, but being from Southern New Jersey, I was thinking it might be good to include a couple of the NJ towns that are right across the bridges - Camden, Gloucester City - and have the Walt Whitman and Ben Franklin bridges connect them to the city...

I was taking a crack at a center city map that incorporates the transit system (ala NYC map) with the Subway and the El. Also including the stadiums. Was a more whimsical Philly setting. Since I'm a novice at this, my map really sucks. Once it's cleaned up, I will upload here.

I just can't get the picture to be right size. But basically it's a what to see in philly map. And I was going to add an avenue of the arts section between city hall and South Street. This stuff takes forever to get done.

I like the direction this one is going. I live in philly and I've lived in SJ and I think, although it's a neat Idea, it's probably a mistake to include both. There's too many towns being left out in the map that includes jersey. Marlton, Cherry Hill, Collingswood all very large towns that deserve representation. South Jersey might be it's own map but it shouldn't be tacked on to the philly map.

Hope this philly map happens someday, would love a home field advantage.

Oh, I should add I didn't see any art museum which I think on your map would fall roughly around what you're calling fairmount

I could get behind either of hzogpsk's choices. I'd have some advice on the one with the suburbs as to what goes in which continent as follows.

1). I grew up in Delco and live in Chesco and in general I find that the towns associate with each other based on the roads. For instance, in Delco there is a strip along Rt 1. When you live in Chadds Ford its easy to drive to Oxford or to Media simply going up and down 1. Then you've got the main line on Rt 30 which extends out to downingtown and coatesville. Downingtown and Coatesville should certainly be in the same continent. I'd also add KOP and Pottstown into the Montco tert.-the 422 corridor.

Anyway, if you're going to pursue let me know and I'll be sure to check in.

I kicked this around myself a few months ago. I'm also from Philly and I'd love to see a Philly map. I think in addition to considering the surrounding neighborhoods (i.e. Valley Forge, King of Prussia, Camden, etc.), there are a ton of neighborhoods within the City limits. Taking a look at wiki - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ph ... ghborhoods

You can see that there's Center City, South Philly, Southwest Philly, West Philly, Northwest Philly, North Philly, and the Great Northeast. And then if you scroll down you'll see the actual neighborhoods. For example, in the Northeast you have places like Fox Chase, Pennypack, Bustleton. In Center City you have the Art Musuem, Penn's Landing, etc.

I wonder if there is a way to incorporate the smaller neighborhoods into the bigger areas - like have the Italian Market territory as part of South Philly and Bustleton territory as part of the Great Northeast.
