[PC] National Flag

Post by PinsNPoker »

Dorieus wrote:Make the national flag a permanent fixture of the Player name so that it is visible in my games, game finder, the forums, etc.

Such an addition would be an improvement in a number of ways.

1.With one quick look a player will be able to choose opponents based on time difference, language or even national
rivalry.

2. National and international games (United States v. Canada, Europe vs. South America) can be organized and would
be fun to play.

3. CC is a healthy and prosperous international community with an impressive number of participating countries.
By having our national flag visible, we celebrate this fact.

4. Military uniforms have them.

5. They look great and would be a refreshing, colourful addition.

flag/time zone suggestion

Post by glide »

really good idea! I agree its a gas playin' distant people, but it would be nice to have a few games on tap you knew would progress at a set time of day. Maybe a little higher priority?

Flag or Time Zone next to player names when joining a game

Post by peglion »

Basically, when you want to join a game, it'd be nice to see where the existing players for that game are... that way, you can choose a game where you are all in the same timezone, and therefore are more likely to be playing around the same time, which will make the game faster... It's a bit frustrating to join a game and then find out there's one guy from US, one from Singapore and one in Europe, which basicaly means each turn will take 24 hours... I like having such games in the background, playing one move a day, but it'd be cool to also be able to choose a game where you are likely to have a quick battle for half an hour and then move on...

Just a thought...

No that was for everyone, and I know this may shock you, but you have to do it manually. Go into your profile and set the display clock an hour ahead.

IDK. I expect it to be, but it wasn't. It might be with the next release of phpBB.

Not everywhere has daylight savings time, so automation would be odd...

*** Suggestion *** Country flags next to players names

Post by ogr8cdd »

Firstly Sorry if this has been suggested before I looked and couldn't find it.

Is it possible to put the players country flag next to their name in the Game listing? This will be very useful when you want to have a faster game with people in your own WORLD Time zone.

Often when I have joined a game I find someone from USA in the game, and nothing against Americans, but what tends to happen is they are playing when I am sleeping and I am playing when they are sleeping, so games take a long time.

If you could, at a glance, see the country of the people in the game, you could play with people who would be playing at the same time as you.

This is not an urgency, but I would find it useful. Would anyone else?

Hell no! There name and rank is enough! Don't want friggen 20 things next to peoples names in a game. If you really want to do that, just check the profiles of the people in the game.

Join RT'S. Where everyone is staying until the game is done.

Problem solved.

Forgive my ignorance, how do you search for RT's

Checking through through the profile is fine (if somewhat time consuming), but not everyone will do that, and if you are playing in different countries it will make the variable time thing a little difficult, i.e. if you decide to join a 15 minute game (when that is implemented) and the others are on the other side of the world, someone will e up all night playing.

Normally made with the live chat. People will make rt's there.

The chat is having some problems right now, might not be possible for a while.

But..That's how.

They don't have official RT's just yet. They are normally made in live chat and in the callouts forum.

Nationality/Time zone search in game finder

Post by Spuzzell »

Any chance of implementing a Player time zone or Player nationality criteria in the game finder?

I keep finding myself in games where when I'm ready to play everyone else is asleep and vice versa, and everyone gets annoyed.

Would be very useful to be able to specify games which only had European players in for example, so there wasn't any hanging around.

i dont know, since the majority of players here are american and i live in almost the opposite timezone, i think it would lead to the exclusion of lots of people. maybe only for freestyle games would be good. but i wouldt like to be excluded because of my timezone
