Re: the longest thread, thread - Occasionally NSFW
The rebirth of Koolbak.
Well I'm pleasantly surprised at this turn of events. For those of you who don't know, koolbak's from way back in the day. he originally posted here a lot and then after getting in a fight with Wicked and AK more or less stopped posting. No doubt that wicked's ban has something to do with his revival.

I've played him in a game or two but not seen him post much (if at all) before.

Koolbak... A polar bear? One of them, anyway... Not glide.
In heaven... Everything is fine, in heaven... Everything is fine, in heaven... Everything is fine... You got your things, and I've got mine.

So why hasn't Koolio gotten his sorry ass back here, where it belongs?

I don't know maybe you should ask him that.

Did mrs. Rotten catch you with that girl again?

Leave little Johnnny alone, Wolf. I think he's supposed to be standing in the corner with his face to the wall.
BTW on school matters, my daughter found out who her teacher is this year - Mr Wolfe! I didn't know you'd qualified already.

It's just a part time gig. Don't worry, I'll make sure Johnny's in the class. That way, he'll have plenty of time to sit in the corner.

Re: the longest thread, thread - Occasionally NSFW
Anyhow, on another topic, I am becoming a fan of Guitar Hero. Not playing it, but my kids now are wandering around humming classics by the Stones, Alice Cooper, Cream, and many aother fine band that they would have found totally uncool if I'd tried to play the tracks to them...

I feel sorry for your kids. They must have fallen victim to so called new rock or maybe even worse rap. Though thankfully it looks like they've finally gotten on the right track. you should make sure they're introduced to other bands as well such as Pink Floyd, Led Zepellin and AC/DC.

Luckily my father got to me at a young age, and I was able to avoid nasty things such as rap...

Same with me, though I was started on the 50s and 60s stuff.
"Eh, whatever."

Re: the longest thread, thread - Occasionally NSFW
My dad tried to get me into a lot of 60's stuff but I was more interested in Pink Floyd and AC/DC. I later gained more appreciation for Led Zeppelin and The Who.

I have no clue how I got into 70's and 80's rock. But when my mom got an ipod, I started listening to music more.

Re: the longest thread, thread - Occasionally NSFW
Each era produces its own classic stuff, though I've heard little new in the last few years that impressed me - I thik that's manly because I don't know anyone who knows todays music, and the stuff you tend to hear by listening casually is the Hannah Montana/ Jive Bunny/ Herman's Hermits of the day (to pick three widely-separated bits of pap music).
I think probably the best era for popular music was the bit after the extremes of punk music settled down and the following five or six years.

Music hit it's best between 1971-1979. I don't need to go into why it's just the truth.

I don't wish to enter a slanging match, but that excludes both the Beatles (prior) and the Eurythmics, Pretenders, and Thomas Dolby (post), just off the top of my head.
It does include some of the best music ever produced too - Bowie at his height, raucous early punk, the Only Ones, The Sweet, Kate Bush, the best of Frank Zappa, David Bromberg's finests hours, and many more.

For the record, I'm not saying that '60's or '80's or even 90''s music sucked, just that the seventies were the best.
