Re: Attention Please 3 for 1
I'm not gonna make a map or run a tournament for the sake of a medal. If I ever do either it'll be cos I want to, same as anyone else.

Making a map takes months of hard work, which should deserve more than just a medal, in my opinion. Helping make new maps for this place, working for a long time, eventually giving your map to CC, it at least should earn you one medal for each map.
what about some maps having more worth than others? so should we vote on medals for mapmaking? or dole out the medals by relative popularity stats?

Class F= 128+
And TD's wouldn't even have to check for every tournament, a new requirement when sending in tournament privilege requests would be listing the class size of your tournament
Not meaning to be a pain in the neck, but I'm running a 17-player league at the moment. A 16 player simple knockout means 15 games set up. My league is going to have 136 games total. So this formula, as it stands won't work out fairly
yup, this needs to be changed to games created if this were to work. But I'm thinking the real problem is that we are trying to combine apples and oranges into one category. We should have seperate reward systems for game-related medals and contribution-related medals. So keep the current game-related medals the same, but give out "contribution points" for tournament organizers and mapmakers. The contribution points could vary based on the tournament size. (i.e. one contribution point for every tournament game created, 200 contribution points for every map created, or something of the sort).

Re: Attention Please 3 for 1
Earning a medal won't impact my decision to run a tournament or not so it doesn't matter to me personally.
However, I think we should provide medals for winning material tournaments. I've run some large tournaments in order to see how I stack up against other good players and if there is additonal incentive for higher ranked players to risk their precious points ... that would be great.
I don't need a medal for my work but I'd really appreciate getting another 3 generals to enter a tournament that I'm running.

I would be happy with the map/touney medals being worth 1 medal, as long as it still says on the medal how many maps I have done.
What do you know about map making, bitch?

Re: Attention Please 3 for 1
Why not give the tournament medal a nice color ?
1 tournament will give you a bronze medal
10+ will make your medal shiny silver
and 25+(?) is gold
Looks fair enough for me

Whats unfair about getting 1 medal for 1 tournament ran? Its all part of the experience of CC!! Competition and reward

Just keep it how it is, if you want special medals then make a tournament or make a map

i have more to say, but i cant help but feel that map-makers and tourney folks dont want to discuss this, they just want to bitch about how hard it is to run a tourney.
i have alot of respect for all of the map makers and tourney makers. but ima bow out of this discussion for the same reason i dont ever go into the foundry.

We aint bitching how hard it is. But map makers and TO's deserve every single medal they get!! If u tried to run a tournament maybe you would understand. Just like u dropped out of my Tournament. Thats very disrespectful and slows down the Tournament experience for everyone. I hope i dont see you in any future tournaments i run!!

Re: Attention Please 3 for 1
I think you should stop whining. Just don't include the medals if you don't think they were fairly earned.
Re: Attention Please 3 for 1
Why change the way it is? Aside from trying to have the "most" medals.
Getting a medal for making a tournament or a map or a 'special contribution' is just a way of saying thanks for the time put in.
If someone has 45 medals only from tournaments and maps, what does it matter? Medals are no indication of how good a player you are.

consider it done.
EDIT: p.s. the reason i dropped out of your tournament is because i inquired if it was neccessary to be a sports fan to play in your sports themed tourney, but it seemed before i started the first game i had already had to inquire with questions several times. excuse me for not knowing what a yellow card means, or have problems remembering the name of some stupid sports team. if it was gonna take that kind of correspondence on every round of the tourney, i probably saved you some trouble.

This is not the place to discuss it. But i didnt inform you before you applied to join the Tournament that it had a sports team. You and ur team mate took 3 whole days to get into a game and coz of that i gave u a yellow card!. Accumalate 2 yellow cards and u lose 2 points! Its not that hard! Morale of the story is show respect and join your games straight away. Coz of you and your lack of manners ive had to send over 20 pm's!!!!

Re: Attention Please 3 for 1
obviously other factors need to be considered, like how big the tournament is
furthermore, they're usually a lot of work.
but i don't particularly care, so either your suggestion or the current standing is fine with me

i dont get it anyways..they are medals, they dont give you anything. there is not a leaderboard for them, like points. i mean maybe to some they are meaningful but to me just does not matter, i wont go out of my way to play certain games so that i can get another medal

Re: Attention Please 3 for 1
If I lost my medal for the one tournament i organised, i would be pissed off.
The tournament in question was ran before the tournament tools were in place. Loads of games I made had to be re made because people dropped the game. It was hard work.
Playing games to achieve medals may take more man hours, but those hours are your own and playing those games are fun.
There is a lot less fun in running a tournament.

im sorry that i had to drop from your tourney, and i recognize that alot of hard work goes into such. ive been in tons of tourneys before and ive never dropped one before two days ago. i had no idea that attempting to discuss this matter would bring out such anger. i dont believe i said anything demeaning about tourney organizers, but ill not take away your right to be offended by anything that ive said here. and from now on i wont be joining any tourneys that you create if it is what you want.

it could also be looked as its an honor for anyones map to be excepted and used on this site. map makers should work hard to obtain the REWARD to be able to display and the usage on their map(s). why should they receive medals in addition or medals for each map that is used? Their names are displayed on their work.

I am doing an NFL tourney right now which is going to take at least 2-4or even maybe 5 months to finish...if not 6
why should that count as 1/3 of a medal?
I ALREADY TOLD YOU WHY
MAX MEDALS FOR NON-TOURNEY MAKERS is 27
SOME TOURNAMENT ORGANIZERS HAVE OVER 30 MEDALS alone with just making TOURNEYS
IT IS NOT REALISTIC OR FAIR OR BALANCED RIGHT, obviously night strike and mods and others on CC staff agree as they will be making changes to this.
I respect all map makers and tournament organizers, this is not personal or nothing against them, I agree it is very hard work and commands a lot of respect for helping to enhance the CC site and rightfully so, but as I stated in BOLD above, the 3 for 1 would change this to bring more balance. The CC site workers can change it however they want, I am not saying they must do my change, but there NEEDS to be a change, PERIOD.

what,me worry? wrote:you should only receive up to 3 medals for this catagory like every other medal. create 5 maps you got bronze, 10 maps is silver and 20 maps for gold.
cant be handing out medals like candy at halloween
this is kinda something like where I was coming from, or even 3 tourneys a bronze, 10 tourneys a silver, 25 tourneys a gold, 50 a platinum, 100 a diamond if they add platinum and diamond status or whatever CC decides.

gameplayer wrote:It's hard to find a consistent way to reward tournament organizers due to the wide range of tournament sizes. For example, in the current system, a 16-player single elimination 1v1 tournament scores the same as a 144 all-map iron man event. I don't think it would be fair to give a third of a medal to a large tournament like that which takes a long time and a lot of effort to complete. There probably is a better way to score tournament contributions, but this isn't it.
well, they reward games played or unique opponents defeated on DOODLE EARTH map the same as they do WORLD 2.1 and there is a massive difference with about of time, but both are equally treated the same, so therefore so should tourney's, trust me, I put some time into tournies and most will not want to create or host a bunch or tourneys, it is a lot of work, but there does need to be a change, you simply cannot have over 30 medals for TOURNEYS and ALL else in cc you can only get MAX of 27, now anyone that does not agree with this is just BLIND or NUMB

Hmmm - seems like the people who have lots of game medals are the people who don't like people having medals for non game related things.
