Re: An Ancient Greek Revamp
I also prefer the Asia Minor font.

Isn't Agean spelled Aegean?

Yes.
Personally I don't find anything wrong with the original map, but this looks great too. For some reason the land looks as if it's below the sea, might just be how you look at it, or though it's probably just me. Anyone else find that? I really like how you have put the shadow images on the background of continents, nice touch.
Re: An Ancient Greek Revamp

Added missing sea-routes, fixed the spelling, unified the font (though people can still vote for the others if they like it, I kinda liked it).
Also added army shadows, and other miscellaneous touch-ups.
What do people think of the sea route circling the outer Islands of the Kyklades? Are they neccessary? I think if theres nothing connecting them it looks uniform enough for people to know, but Gilligan had a point about the easternmost island.
Here it is with the numbers

Re: An Ancient Greek Revamp
Verry nice but im not a big fan of Asia minor or Athens they somehow dont fitt in (colour i mean)

What about naming it the Islands of Kyklades? Or Kyklades Islands? That would make it clearer; but I would either change the name (But I think you said you didn't want to) or move the easternmost island a little closer.
I don't think the route around the islands are necessary.

Move the word Zakynthos down a little. It's hard to see the connection there.

Due colorshcheme the Asia Minor works, but the colour aint as lively like the other colours you've chosen.

I think Zakynthos is the wrong font.

this is quenchable at this point.

Wow...
I think the old AG map is pretty good (definitely not my first choice for a revamp)...

However - this version is uber sweet - personally I can't see any problems with it as is...

The ocean paths around the island helps to show that the territory is All the islands...

Re: An Ancient Greek Revamp
the mountains kinda look like broccoli
Re: An Ancient Greek Revamp
I don't like the ocean texture. It feels too strong - maybe just lowering the opacity will help.
I think the map would feel much more cohesive if there was only one font used for all the territories, and I think this should be the Asia Minor font.

That's what I get for posting without thinking

Re: An Ancient Greek Revamp

The font should all be uniform now. Got rid of the route around the Kyklades islands and called it "Kyklades Islands" to ease confusion. I lowered the strength of the ocean just a little bit too.
Re: An Ancient Greek Revamp
I think that you probably need to put the circular sea-path around Kyklades back... those dead-ends look a bit confusing
The ocean texture looks better, although I'd be inclined to lighten it a fraction more.
Personally I'm not sold on the choice of font - it feels a bit too cartoony.
edit: I like the look of SPAchmim or SPIonic that I have just found on this site [clicky]
I already prefer this version to the old one though
Keep up the good work

Re: An Ancient Greek Revamp
overall it's quite good. some people already brought up a few things so I won't double on those but the one I will is the mountains. I'm not sure if it's the colour or the shape or both but I don't like it. The colour bleeds a bit to the north into some territories. It might just be the green on green. But then you have a brown to the north so maybe try something dark?

If something circular goes, it should be something that isn't an attack route

Re: An Ancient Greek Revamp
I'm not totally sold on the font at this point, I actually preferred the other one I tried out but it didn't seem to popular. Both the ones you suggested would look awful in my opinion. The one doesn't look Greek at all, and the other uses actual Greek characters which wont work.
I don't think anything is really needed for Kyklades at this point, now that the name stretches out there. Plus the word "Islands" should explain it. It may be confusing at first look but not enough that someone wouldn't figure it out quickly, in my opinion.

Re: An Ancient Greek Revamp
if there's going to be a revamp here, some of the little problems with the map should be discussed and addressed. My biggest problem with the map is that numbers with color codes run off the right side of the map - Prygia needs a bump to the left. And the old army circles are so dark it actually makes the blue numbers harder to read.
Re: An Ancient Greek Revamp
If you'd looked at the most recent version of the map, you'd see that all those things have already been taken care of.
