The problem people in this thread have is that judges are being biased towards the Chinese, at least in their opinion. Jamaicans being fast is their own skill at work, but judging is totally reliant on those judges. I doubt their biased towards the Chinese. Even if they are biased, China probably didn't coerce them in any way. From an economic standpoint, don't you think it would be a good idea to get on China's good side?

I really couldn't believe what I've read in this thread. EVERYBODY (out of this thread) says that organization of this Olympic Games is ABSOLUTELY PERFECT in every imaginable way. The best ever! And more than 50% posters voted for banning China from organization... LMFAO

But you all forgot a thing of much greater emergency. Jamaican athletes have to be banned immediately (otherwise, they'll continue to wipe off everybody). They're just unacceptable fast! You better hurry!!

Did you watch how some of those Chinese gymnasts did in comparison to the others? I'm not saying China should be banned (though some of those girl's age do look questionable), I'm saying that when a gymnast messes up several times in a row, gets a high score, another one does it almost perfectly (except for 1 mistake), there's something wrong there.

They have 14 silver and 14 bronze (to date).

You're a sore loser, yankee blowhard. Speaking as a Brit (3rd in the table, thank you very much), i find your attitude abhorent. Bad loser, bad winner.

The difficulty level of the routine plays a part in the scoring.

Just thought I'd mention that sabre fencing is scored electronically... the judges are there mostly to call illegal hits. So that's not really a good example. You'd be better off with weightlifting, since the Chinese have dominated it and it's an objective sport... except that there are doping suspicions. There are only a few other non-judged sports in which the Chinese have medaled at all. Table tennis may be an exception, but that wouldn't surprise anybody, since the Chinese actually go to school to learn to play Ping-Pong. (I wanna do that! )

As I understand it, the IOC can only check paperwork as submitted by the suspected country's sports federation unless definitive proof is brought before them. Witness the lack of action on the age issue in women's gymnastics. And really... given China's reputation... who's going to throw a big fit while China is hosting?

There are good reasons to object to China's hosting... but most of them are easier to prove then nebulous suspicions of cheating. Pollution/air quality, for instance. Organization. Some of the aforementioned shady publicism. China's having reneged on their promise to provide all members of foreign media with unfettered Internet access while in China. Poor building of event arenas. The prestige given to a blatant human rights violator. There are good reasons without even going to the "CHEATER!" cry, true though it may be. (And probably is, in a few cases. Yeah, I'm talking to you, He Kexin.)

I particularly like the part where "using computer generated fireworks" is ground for China not hosting the olympics. 15,000 people practice their Choreography for a year to make the opening ceremony special, but generate a few bangers and you're muck :P

... I would have agreed with you, but two of the Chinese female gymnasts were stone cold busted for age violations... and nobody's talking about taking their medals away.

... But I do not agree that Olympics should be banned from China.

China is no different from the old East Germans.
A bunch of cheating bastards with no regard to the poor individuals who are competing in the sport, but rather using the Olympics as a demonstration of how great their country is.
The East Germans used to artifically inseminate under age gymnasts because a pregnant woman has increased hormones that allow more supple joints and tendons. then after the olympics they would abort the pregnancy.

All of these old communist olympians are so FUBAR with hormones, that you don't know what sex they are.

The olympics isn't the competition that it should be. When I look at the medal haul of the Australians, I'm impressed. A population of 19 million getting so many medals is fantastic.

The chinese are a bunch of sneaky cheating bastards.

Im glad Im not the only one noticing a slight biasness towards the chinese. Perhaps not outright cheaters but I feel that they have been get points which other countries deserve aswell. Its not the degree of difficulty either, because for the most case, they are all equal.

And can someone explain what an age violation is? is there like a miminum age or something?

The minimum age for gymnasts is 16, but there is a lot of speculation that a few of the Chinese female gymnasts are younger (for god's sake, one of them still has her baby teeth).

Beyond that, considering as the judging is from a international panel, not just chinese, it's kind of hard to say that they're cheating. However, I feel that they really are using these Olympics to show off their nation, which is kind of outside of the spirit of the Olympics...I cite the entire opening ceremony

wow, just because of some bias in gymnastics you wanna shut China out of hosting the Olmypics [-X you must be too jealous because China has more gold medals than USA...
and yes, I've heard someone mention human rights here, okay China might have some human rights problems but what about the Us? are they any better? whenever they start invading a country to "free it from terrorists", they'll randomly bomb places and in the end, more civillians are killed than militants...

so you've got to be at least 16 to do Gymanstics. how come we have a 14 year old in the diving and in the past 13 year olds in the swimming. :? is it just the rules of the governing body for Gymnastics?

That's a good point. Countries whose teams never made the gymnastics...
But there are checks and balances over the judges though...
