also playability is more simple because we dont have a continent that has 4 borders like 9 countries with the same bonus as one with like 5 countries 4 borders.

I think the version with mountains is the way to go. It looks better and I think it would play better. South Australia will probably be hard enough to hold as it is, taking the mountains away will make it impossible.

I like the version with the mountains better as well. I also agree that its pretty much done. Now all keyogi needs is andy's approval.

It seems everyone is happy with the map as it currently is. I've posted a large version, but it's just been scaled to a 800x600 size so if there's any problems, they'll be there in both. Might be more obvious on the larger image though. :)

Mt Gambier seems a bit off, and maybe port lincoln.

also, i would move the perth text down to where the circle is and move the circle up

...Should've made the large map first, the large is not as nice as the small. Nothing much you can do however.

I realise that, but my computer is ancient and it was a struggle for it to cope with the small image.

Me too. But looking at the large map, it is a little fuzzy/blurry. I think this can be resolved though as I just upscaled the jpeg image. If I upscale the version of the file with all the layers intact it should retain its sharpness. I think. :?

I have no idea what texture it is, but I'm almost certain it's not a wood texture.

As for the map progress, I think it's best to wait for Andy to comment before going any further. I will address the large map issue, but it can wait until I know for sure whether the design is complete.

so its been 5 pages, nearly 2 weeks since andy has had anything to say... How long do we have to wait? Nothing else can really be done till andy does have his say.

I've been following along, and it seems like the mountains help South Australia, but perhaps hurt some playability in the fact you can make Western Australia down to Two Borders now. Perhaps if others feel the same way, we could adjust the bonus to 5, instead of 6, to compensate. But then you may get some inconsistency due to the fact Queensland is also a 5, and with 1 less border. But I think the fact that you can limit your borders easily in Western Australia compared to Queensland, perhaps is support for a knock down in bonus value.

The Nullabor could be extended to border Coober Pedy in SA. Or there's the option of Lake Eyre or Port Lincoln being extended to border WA.

Either of those options or reduce the bonus, I don't mind which. What does everyone else think?

Make Lake Eyre connect to Western Australia.

Also is there really a place called Goldfields? if so, what a terrible name.

Decided to keep the bonus of six, but extend Lake Eyre across to WA and Nullabor to SA. This adds one extra border to both WA and yet again makes SA harder to defend.

Any more adjustments? It feels like I'm going backwards and forwards again, just redoing changes that have already been made.

I think ur pretty much done, only small changes can be made, like the border between Mt Isa and Winton, the border between Cocklebiddy and Coober Pedy and the border between lake Eyre and Western Downs.

Do you think those borders between WA and SA are okay? I'm a little concerned Coober Pedy can now be attacked from 3 WA territories.

If that needs to be adjusted, it's hardly any work at all and I'll do it next time I update along with tidying up some borders.

I was talking about visuals, they are a bit out. Maybe Cocklebiddy and Coober Pedy border should line up so Coober Pedy borders Cocklebiddy and Nullabor and Lake Eyre borders Warburton.

So, I've added a poll to see if this map still has any appeal. I'm kind of over it, I feel it has been so close to final forge for so long and any changes that get made tend to just be redoing or undoing things that have already been done.

Australia is a hard country to represent in a gameplay friendly manner I feel, maybe it should just be included in an Oceania map. If this map proves to have lost interest, maybe I'll pursue the Oceania idea that has been brought up many times. I'll wait and see though.

Great, so were going to have 2 nearly complete versions of Australia in the foundry. Your only problem is South Australia.

I completely understand why keyogi is losing intrest in making this map.
He IS making the same changes over & over.
Maybe people need to agree that SA is a lost cause and nothing can be done to fix it.
